What Guests Are Saying
Dennis Cove Campground is praised for its beautiful scenery, well-maintained campsites, and friendly camp host, Dale, who enhances the overall experience with his knowledge and hospitality. Campers appreciate the peaceful and secluded atmosphere, ideal for unplugging and enjoying nature, with easy access to hiking trails and a lovely creek. However, some reviews mention minor issues, such as the need for better bathroom facilities and occasional maintenance concerns, while overall, the campground remains a favored destination for many.

This area is not for everyone, but if you are looking for a place to get away, this is your place. You are about 5 mi from any stores or anything, and the mountain you have to get up to the sites is very steep. The camping area is on a large flowing creek, and is a place for fishing primarily. Great place for photos and hiking as well. There are only about 12 sites or so, and the host is exceptional. He goes way beyond the scope of most campground hosts. He knows the area, makes time to get to know the campers, and is an unlimited source of information. There are no showers, but there is a campground about 6-8 mi away, where you can use their showers. There are bathrooms (1 ea) male and female, with toilet and sink. Water is cold. Expect your evenings to be at least 10 degrees or more colder than the temps at the bottom of the mountain.

Great campground, and host. Road up, over, and down the mountain was hair raising with numerous 180° switchbacks and only 12' wide. Would not recommend this campground for anything over 22 ft long.

The host Dale is wonderful! He keeps the campground clean, bathrooms clean, checks on you to see if you need anything at all, knows the area well. I could go on and on! We have stayed here many times throughout the years and don’t go anywhere else!

Smaller campground, clean bathrooms and tidy sites, with a truly great host who is very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Told him that I was hiking alone, my route and expected time back in, and he kept an eye open for my return.
Beautiful area for hiking - easy to link up with the AT near the top of the mountain , or hike back down along the river (be prepared for some wet and lively crossings). Worth it for the many beautiful waterfalls. Reportedly excellent for trout fishing.
No cell phone service (Verizon) at the campground, so download any maps, audiobooks, etc., you may want beforehand. Be prepared for a temp drop from the town at the foot to the campsite of 10-15degF.
Highly recommended and well worth a second visit!
