It was absolutely beautiful, but the outhouse smelled so bad. I have never in my life smelled anything as bad as that outhouse, and I've worked with livestock. I loved my campsite, however, and really enjoyed the nature.

This was an excellent campsite! It has bear boxes at every campsite, trash cans, and a bathroom and is lightly trafficked so there are no crowds

We always have a nice time here. The rangers are nice and do a good job of keeping folks from getting too rowdy. I’m glad the train derailment was finally dealt with so we can enjoy one of our favorite spots again.

Other than no lighting in the restrooms the facilities were excellent. We did have campers driving around the park drive loop and the park rangers did seem to care. These were unlicensed vehicles. All in all had a great time

the sites were better than expected, clean and well maintained... there are 2 things that kept me from giving higher marks. 1. access to river was very limited(no way to get there for fishing) 2. light in bathroom(Suggestion some type of solar/motion lights in there and on walkway leading up to them)

The only negative of this trip that came from the campsite itself is that the food storage box was full of ants. But since the parking lot is directly next to the campsite, we just kept the food in the car.
Some other things to note:
ATVs and dirt bikes are VERY popular! From about 8 am to 10 pm, it is nonstop (and loud!). Just something to keep of note if you're looking for a more quiet trip.
The campsite isn't far from the bathrooms, but it's the farthest compared to the other sites.
Campsite 1 is next to the parking lot, and away from other campsites. It's secluded and not at the same time. You're away from people, but anyone parking in the lot for day-use or the ATV/dirtbike people can see your campsite. We had a slightly negative experience with some punk kids revving up their bikes while looking at us, but they were like 12 and probably just wanted attention.
Overall: not a bad site itself! We had a great time. Just make sure to check for weather if you're planning on stargazing, it was cloudy our whole trip😞

I did not camp in my spot. Thunderstorms in the area caused me to change my plans.
I was glad the fee was only $15. The reservation was easy to make. Perhaps I will camp there in the future.

The campsites were spacious and accommodating. The hiking trails were walkable and clearly marked. Unfortunately, there was a chemical spill and the river was closed for swimming and fishing. Over all, It was a very nice place to camp. Will have to go back someday too do some fishing.

This is a primitive campsite, no water or electric, but they have a bathroom. I've stayed here many times, and absolutely love it. No matter what campsite you are in, the access to the river is very close. You can fish, swim, and it has multiple moderate to challenging trailheads right at the campground. There is one easier riverside loop trail though. Remember, this is a designated "Dark Park", so take a stroll over the old train trestle, and the stargazing is not to be believed! If you have a large vehicle, don't get the walk-in sites, because you won't fit into the designated parking spot for those. I have always found the people respectful of quiet time here.

From the East: Take State Route 62 West, then veer to the right onto State Route 27. Make a left onto Kingston Street, and follow the brown Obed road signs to the visitor center on North Maiden Street. To continue on to the campground, stay on North Maiden Street until reaching an intersection. Stay straight on North Maiden Street crossing Main Street/Old Hwy 27 until you reach Spring Street. Turn right onto Spring Street and continue on to the sharp left-handed curve where the road becomes Catoosa Road. Stay on Catoosa Road for approximately 5.5 miles until reaching the entrance of the campground.
From the West: Take State Route 62 East, then make a right onto State Route 27 South. Policies & Rules
Arrival & departure
- Occupy the reserved site; modify reservations for site changes.
Cancellation policy
- Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
- Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
- Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
- Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
- Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
- Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
- Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
Wildlife & food storage
- Do not hang garbage from lantern poles.
