When we arrived at 4:00 we were told the water was locked and only available between 9-12. Check-in isn’t even until 1:00 so we had to drive around with a 34 ft trailer trying to find somewhere to get water.

Per website, no ATVs/SXS in campground, even just to drive out. Called phone # from rec.gov page and was told they may make an exception due to only having a toy hauler and we wouldn’t be trailering ATVs to trailheads with it. We took the ATVs in a chance they would. They wouldn’t, however the camp host said they are starting to allow street legal SXS since “that is some people’s transportation “ I call BS when camping there, they got to the campground with a real vehicle. It was frustrating when some SXS were allowed to head to the trails, but we couldn’t with our smaller, quieter 4-wheelers.

The lake itself isn’t a swimming lake, i tried to determine that before getting there but there really wasn’t any good info. There were hundreds of dead fish of all sizes all along the shoreline. It’s full of thick seaweed quite a ways into the lake. We took the paddle boards/kayaks out one day. Once we got pretty far into the lake the water was beautiful, but there’s no way I was getting off the board. There were a lot of people fishing though.

We received notice the day before checkout that now the water station as well as the dump station were temporarily closed.

Even with these frustrations, we had a fabulous week. The campground was really beautiful with so many pine trees and a view of the lake. We were able to hike down to the river from the campground and some family members really had a good time fishing at the river.

We had some friends join us for one night and they had room on their ATV trailer for our machines so we were able to explore trails for a day. The ones we found were beautiful and fun.
