About Moon Lake Campground

Moon Lake Campground is located on the shores of the scenic two mile long Moon Lake on the southern slope of the 13 ft peaked Uinta Mountains. Visitors come to Moon Lake to enjoy cool mountain air, fishing, canoeing and motor- boating, scenic vistas, hiking trails and horse rides.

Weather was perfect at the end of June. Very few bugs. The campground looks amazing with all the new growth. Sad to see the burned trees around the mountain, but the fire crew did an amazing job keeping the fire away from the campground.

Moon Lake is a beautiful location. We stayed at the campground which is clean and appealing. The surrounding area has been marred by the fires in 2020, however. The restrooms are kept clean. There are numerous humming birds and a deer walked through our camp one day. We rented a boat and spent time on the lake fishing. The fishing was good. We plan to return next year.

While the fact that it rained the entire time wasn't their fault, there was still a lot of dirt build up around the RV pad, which made the water puddle considerably around the whole camper. Hopefully, the road down to the lake will get fixed soon as well. Overall, we had a great time as always!

The campground was picture perfect. Clean, well maintained without feeling like it was overly manicured or tempered with. The beach was a short walk down a paved road which lead to a beautiful alpine mountain lake. We will be going back in the future. Easily accessible by car or suv, no need for a large truck.

We stayed in the lower loop, site 24, in our fifth-wheel trailer. We had a partial view of the lake and were able to observe lots of deer and ground squirrels in the campground. The bathrooms were cleaned daily, and were pleasant to use. We brought our kayaks for fun and swimming on the lake, rented a fishing boat from the lodge and caught trout, went horseback riding one afternoon, and had a terrific meal from Elsa's Food Truck at the lodge. We stayed six nights and enjoyed beautiful days with several brief showers, and campfires with smores and too many stars to count. Our grand-kids are already asking when we can go back!

From Duchesne, Utah, take State Hwy 87 north to Mountain Home, then north 12 mi to the Forest Boundary and Forest Road 131. The campground is about 36 mi from Duchesne on paved roads although some spots have pot-holes.

Policies & Rules

Cancellation policy

Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
- Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.

Site capacity

Tents must be placed only on designated tent pads; no extra tents are allowed.
Availability of first-come sites is not guaranteed despite website availability indications.
Occupying a reservable site without a current reservation is prohibited.

Safety & rules

Shooting any guns or projectiles is prohibited in the campground.
All generators must be included in the leashing requirement for dogs.
Non-compliance with campground rules may lead to fines or removal.

Pets

Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times in the campground.
