Moon Lake Campground

Lovely campsite, we had a great time, bathrooms were nice and clean, and beautiful walks and fishing spots. The only surprise we had was turning up and discovering the raised area for the tent to be pitched, was very small at 10x10, and our tent did not fit. Nowhere in our booking for 6 people, were there any size references on sites. We were very lucky there was an open site up the hill which had a 12x14 tent site we could use instead. Could have been dire if it wasn’t available, as we had traveled 3 hours to get there. But it all ended well and the ranger staff were very nice. Would definitely go back again.

We really enjoyed our time at moon lake and will be back.

Nice campground and great way to relax.

Spent 3 nights here and in this spot. Loved every second of it. You get some early morning sunshine and the mid afternoon doesn’t have much shade but the super tall pines surrounding you give great cover.

Excellent, large picnic table (cement) was great and located next to a nice fire pit. The fire pit also has a flip over grate to cook on.

This site has a nice tent pad behind your RV too. Tons of squirrels and a few deer wandering your campsite. They appear well fed and happy. Say hello to “Sammy the Squirrel” if you see him (our son named him.)

The site was easy to back in to and located near fresh water tap and the trash / restrooms. But not close enough to smell either. Probably the nicest campground restrooms we’ve found. There IS a light on the back of the restrooms that a) serves no purpose and b) shines a slight bit in to your spot, reducing “dark sky” viewing.

Also to note, this site is the furthest from the lake but it’s a simple 2 minute drive down to the beach with your water toys.

Bugs were weird and there were some biting flies and some no-seeums. They weren’t horrible but noticeable.

Only detractor (for us) was the fire pit and table were on the opposite side of our trailer door. Backing in, these amenities are on the driver side.

We love this campground. The Lake is fantastic and great for the whole family, with kayaking, boating, fishing and playing on the beach. The campground was nice and peaceful, with deer wandering through the sites. It rained a little each day but always cleared up by late afternoon.

We stayed in the lower loop, site 24, in our fifth-wheel trailer. We had a partial view of the lake and were able to observe lots of deer and ground squirrels in the campground. The bathrooms were cleaned daily, and were pleasant to use. We brought our kayaks for fun and swimming on the lake, rented a fishing boat from the lodge and caught trout, went horseback riding one afternoon, and had a terrific meal from Elsa's Food Truck at the lodge. We stayed six nights and enjoyed beautiful days with several brief showers, and campfires with smores and too many stars to count. Our grand-kids are already asking when we can go back!
