What Guests Are Saying
Barker Recreation Area is a beautiful campground with clean facilities and welcoming hosts, making it a great spot for family gatherings and outdoor activities like hiking and fishing. Visitors enjoyed the serene environment, abundant wildlife, and well-maintained grounds, despite some issues with mosquitoes and occasional vehicle traffic in reserved areas. Accessing the site can be challenging for passenger cars, but the stunning views and peaceful atmosphere make it worthwhile.

It takes a while to make it up the gravel road in a little passenger car, but it is absolutely worth it! The CG is beautiful. We camped under aspen trees and were surrounded by mule deer . Bathrooms were clean. The host was welcoming and friendly—we felt safe and appreciated knowing he was there if we needed anything. We hiked as many trails as we could while we were up there and thoroughly enjoyed the views. We will return!

Great place for a family gathering. Plusses were the deer who came right through camp and the trail close by that leads to a lower reservoir. The kids had a great time and never got bored. The campground is very clean and nice except for the Dutch oven cooking platform which had old coals and debris from former campers, which my husband cleaned up. There are a LOT of mosquitoes! The only thing that really worked was the heavy duty Deet formulas of bug spray and it had to be applied twice a day at least. So come prepared! There was usually a light rain every evening and a fantastic rainstorm one day. The campground was quiet, peaceful and beautiful. Hint: To keep the cars from driving into the loop we parked a car across the entrance and we moved it when the maintenance came to check the bathrooms.

This place is so beautiful and pristine- I would not recommend with an RV is is a long steep dirt road. With At and T I did get some service - would go back but with a tent..

The Group camp site, Old Lady Young, Group
BARKER RECREATION AREA was clean upon arrival as were the pit toilets. Several vehicles kept driving in to our reserved group site and it would be helpful to have a "reserved sign" posted clearly. The mosquitos were almost unbearable (maybe choose a different time to visit) so that part was not fun. Fishing was fairly successful. Beautiful lakes and short hikes to Willow Bottoms and other lakes.
