About Lake Canyon Rec Area

Lake Canyon Recreation Area can be found along Utah's scenic Energy Loop, on top of the Wasatch Plateau. It is located just off Highway 31, approximately 18 mi east of the town of Fairview. The recreation area is situated between Huntington and Cleveland reservoirs, at an approximate elevation of 9 ft. The area is a paradise for anglers and off-road vehicle enthusiasts.

We had a ton of fun. We saw tons of deer, paddle boarded on the lake, hiked, and had an overall great time. The only complaint was that there was no outhouse nearby. We literally had to drive to the outhouse.

beautiful site deer all around! Nasty neighbors left all their trash and beer cans all over. forest workers were on it so glad!!

The Forest Service has the sites mis-numbered on the campground map. This site is not the same as what is says on the map. It's a smaller site than listed. Please make the campground map match the numbers on the ground!

We loved camping here. It was beautiful!!! However, they should not list that there are vault toilets at this campsite. There are none. You have to go to the other group site to get to them. Which is a ways up the road. Not ideal if you have a kid who needs to go in the night.

Cancellation policy

  • Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
  • Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
  • Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
    • Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
  • Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
  • Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
  • Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.

  • There is no drinking water available in the recreation area.

  • Campsites are first-come, first-served for a fee of $5 per vehicle when not reserved.

  • Off-road vehicles are not allowed in the campground.
