About Lake Canyon Rec Area

Lake Canyon Recreation Area can be found along Utah's scenic Energy Loop, on top of the Wasatch Plateau. It is located just off Highway 31, approximately 18 mi east of the town of Fairview. The recreation area is situated between Huntington and Cleveland reservoirs, at an approximate elevation of 9 ft. The area is a paradise for anglers and off-road vehicle enthusiasts.

was very good,but then we as a group know how to camp and be responsible for a nice camp site.Did have too contact camp host to clean out the fire pit,was done in reasonable time.Like the new tables and larger fire pit.

We had reserved this group site because of the large fire pit with the picnic tables etc., which the picture depicts. What isn't stated here or when you arrive (except for some non-descriptive brown markers with no writing on them) is that no campers, cars, ATVs etc. can be parked near or remotely close to that table because the Forrest Service has marked it as an area in recovery. So all of our group with campers had to be parked on the other side of the grove of trees, not even close to the tables & fire pit which made meal time tricky. Would be more practical to just move the tables to the other fire pit on the other side of the site.

The other downside with this site is that it's very close to a heavily traveled road (also hard to tell from the map) so there is traffic non-stop from ATVs & campers.

It is close to several reservoirs and lots of ATV trails.

Our Campsite was beautiful! The whole area is beautiful. There was a really awesome fire pit at our spot, and the bathroom was really close. We had a few tents, and two trailers, and our site was perfect. Everything is very well marked, and the sites are easy to find. We loved all the 4 wheeling trails, and that they were all around camp and easy to access. Beautiful and fun riding. We took our paddle boards and Kayaks to the two closest Lakes, which were both about 5 minutes from camp, by car. Huntington Reservoir, and Cleveland Reservoir. We also fished, took walks, and rode our mountain bikes. We also went to a field right below Huntington reservoir and flew kites! I think we had at least 6 kites going all the time. There was a wonderful steady breeze there, and flying kites was one of the kids favorite activities that we did. I would highly recommend this area, and we will definitely be back again.

Cancellation policy

  • Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
  • Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
  • Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
    • Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
  • Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
  • Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
  • Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.

  • There is no drinking water available in the recreation area.

Site capacity

  • Campsites are first-come, first-served for a fee of $5 per vehicle when not reserved.

  • Off-road vehicles are not allowed in the campground.
