Potters Pond

I've been coming to potters ponds for almost 30 years, and every time is amazing. We went in August, instead of July this time, and we were the only ones around all week. It was breathtaking! The roads have been well maintained and taking a drive to Joe's Valley Reservoir and all the stops in between is one of our favorite things to do. We haven't had a year where it hasn't rained all day for at least a couple days, so definitely bring rain gear!

A perfect Utah mountain campsite. The weather is 20-30 degrees cooler than in SLC, and we caught a few Rainbow Trout in the ponds. The campsites are very large and do not have neighbors next to you. The camp hosts were friendly and helpful to find a FCFS spot. This is now on my top 5 list of campsites in Utah.

We were blown away at how tranquil and beautiful the surroundings are at Potters Pond Campground. The abundant trees and brush truly make one feel like they are a million miles away from home. The journey to the campground starts at Millers Flat Road which is a dirt road that is for the most part well groomed/maintained. It is very bumpy, but can be done with most vehicles. We were towing our 24' TT so we were going slow. It is about 8.3 miles of dirt road to the campground from UT 31. The sites are spaced far enough from each other which gives you plenty of room to spread out and relax. The short walk to the pond is easy and you will appreciate the stillness of the water. Most people were either fishing or enjoying the pond on a row boat. Not 100% sure if the pond is okay to swim in as there are no signage and the presence of blue algae is apparent. Potters Pond is part of the USDA national forest and is wide open and plenty of trails to hike/bike. The campground is adjacent to the Appain Trails where one has access to 300+ miles of off-road enjoyment.

The campground does not have any potable water or any services. There are vault toilets spread out throughout the grounds. Also, there are no dumpsters....so what you bring in, you have to take with you. The campground is situated above 9000ft elevation so the days are mild warm and the nights can be cool to cold. If you're looking for solitude and nature, this is the place to go!

Potters pond was beautiful! All campsites were well maintained and could fit our trailer. Site 12 we especially nice being right across from the lake.

It is a beautiful campground and the pond was fun to kayak in. However I wouldn't recommend this camp ground if you don't have an ATV. I think we were the only campers without one. So all day 4wheelers and side by sides would drive around the campground. But it did appear as though a few of the groups were together but were spaced out around the campground so not sure if its usually quieter. Anyway it created so much dust and noise. Also we had to drive almost an hour on a gravel road going 10-20 mph, with pulling a trailer, to access the campground. We did like our stay but won't go back. Also the camp host does not clean out the fire pits. Ours was almost full to the top and had trash in it when we arrived. Luckily we had a shovel so could clean it out enough to use.

Fantastic experience. An absolute gorgeous pond. This was my first time coming here. My mind was blown away by how clean the vault toilets were. Wasn’t even uncomfortable. My only complaint would be calling out the visitors who used our spot before us. Left a ton of plastic in the fire pit. Thankfully I was raised to leave a place cleaner then I arrived.

Potter's Pond is a wonderful place to camp. It has gorgeous scenery! We caught several fish and watched while the fish were restocked. The campsites we were in were spacious and very nice.
