What Guests Are Saying

Oak Creek Rec Site offers a secluded camping experience with essential amenities like drinking water and vault toilets. The lower sites near the creek are well-sized with flat spots for tents, though cooler temperatures and potential afternoon rain should be expected. While there is no cell service, the site is well-maintained and provides a pleasant atmosphere for smaller vehicles and tents, with additional space available for larger rigs nearby.

Site was pleasantly secluded but still included drinking water and vault toilets. The lower sites near the creek are conveniently sized with many flat spots for tents. Be warned that due to the elevation of the site the temperatures will be significantly cooler and afternoon rain more common. Great activities all down southbound highway 12, with Torrey to the north for great resupply and cell service. No cell service at the site but enough cleanings to get satellite connections.

Nice campground, well maintained but tight so anything over 20ft is going to have problems. Great for vans, car, TC or tents. Tables, fire rings and a stream runs right through it. No cell. There is an area across from the campground that can accommodate large rigs and bigger trailers. It’s boondock camping and is crowded during hunting season but a nice to know place if you need to stop for the night.

After a long day of driving I pulled into the first open spot at Oak Creek Campground. The area was clean and the camping spot level.
Pros: Trees and location provide shelter from the wind.
: Spaces are level, large and not to close together.
: sites provide water, large table, fire ring and access to pit outhouse.
Cons: The first camping area is close to the highway so there is an occasional car or truck passing by.
: I was serenaded by cows most of the night as it's a free range area.

Overall, a nice place!

Oak Creek Campground is so peaceful and a treat for the eyes. The cheery babbling water of Oak Creek provides the soundtrack to your stay. My wife and I camped here for five nights on Spring Break, 11 years ago. We had the space reserved for 1 more night, but an incoming snow storm forced us to retreat to a hotel in Flagstaff AZ. Best thing I remember from our visit was the overall tranquility and beauty of Oak Creek, right behind our campsite. Other memorable moments were watching waterbugs gliding atop the surface of Oak Creek, feeling connected with a Robin that flew into our campground to hang out with us, dipping my feet into Oak Creek, and seeing a Golden Eagle, all lit up by the sun, in a tree near our camp site.

We had a great time here. I'd recommend camping at Oak Creek Campground to anyone!

FS notes no trailers over 20ft. No cell service. And when I looked, no campers either. Sites are small and end loop is to tight to turn a TT around..beware! Otherwise a nice CG for renters and van types.

Place was so beautiful... literally one of the prettiest camp grounds I've ever camped at BUT ALSO ONE OF COLDEST. My Florida butt froze I wasn't ready for it. But I LOVED how the free range cows just roamed all over freely.... I was a little nervous when I seen all the black bear warning signs.... never seen one though THANK GOD! I held onto my car keys all night just in case so that i could of hit the car alarm button in attempt to scare off a potential bear attack.. (signs says loud noises will scare them away).. happy I didn't need it !
