Site 06 was a great experience.
It was spacious & clean, had a cpl different areas for tents. It's not entirely level, so orient your tent correctly.
We tried moving our tent around the site to avoid direct sun, but it kept finding us.
There is shade at this site though. It's surrounded by trees & the beautiful, new picnic table was always in the shade. So it's not like you are being blasted by the sun all day.
The entire campground was well maintained & clean.
There's a few bear-proof garbage cans between site 6 & the next one that were clean, didn't smell & they are far enough away that your privacy isn't totally invaded.
The hosts set out some large rounds for firewood at the driveway entrance to our site, which was actually a tad annoying, because we constantly had other campers walking up to our entrance trying to find firewood.
The bathrooms were really clean w/ absolutely no odor wafting from the area & inside was totally maintained. There was even a garbage bag hanging from the wall.
We walked the trail around the lake w/our dogs & it was a beautiful little hike. I will say be aware on that hike that the 1st stretch had abnormally large mosquitoes that are on another level. We sprayed ourselves with deet-based spray & they could've cared less. I'm pretty sure we saw poison ivy in a few spots too.
There were minimal mosquitoes at the camp though.
We never went swimming, but I waded in & the water was a decent temp. Almost seemed a bit stagnant at the launch. area. The area over to the right seemed better, but a family had taken over the dock & the entire area.
Cell service is non-existent here. We had to drive about 20mins down the road when we wanted to make calls.
A lovely, clean, campground. & it would've been quiet if it werent for the campers behind us w/ 10kids screaming & generators going. But that's not the campground's fault.
We felt safe there- even while leaving our site unattended.

The spots dont specify if they can accommodate parking. I have a rooftop tent and spot 22 wasnt accessible. Didnt find out till we drove all the way up there. Website needs better managed.

Campground was lovely, but busy on the weekend. The trail around the lake was a nice experience for an evening walk, except for the mosquitos. The loons at the lake were memorable. The only drawback was the camp manager ran his generator from 8am -10pm. I get it; generators are allowed but it was a disruption to our overall experience.

This was the first camping trip for our two kids, 5 and 7 and this couldn’t have been a more perfect spot! Gorgeous lake, fun hiking trail, docks to fish and jump from, lots of wildlife, and a nice clean camp spot. We will be back!

We arrived early Thursday afternoon. Extremely quiet. Took our canoe and kayaks out on the lake. So peaceful. Loved our campsite and how much space we had. Friday, for most of the day, was also extremely quiet. Friday evening the campsites started filling up. For the most part it was still quiet. We were able to have a campfire. Bathroom was very clean. Not bad for a pit toilet. There is a hand pump in the middle of the campground. A notice states it’s for fresh water drinking. No doing dishes. One web site we read said there is no water available. So we brought plenty. We did use the hand pump and out came brown water. We pumped for a while to clean out the pipes, but it was still brown. Maybe remove the fresh water notice?
Camp hosts were very friendly. Somewhere in the camp, someone was using their generator well past 1:00 am. Two nights in a row. Maybe they needed it, but it would have been nice for some quiet time.

Beautiful lake. Very secluded. Lots of shade around the campsite. We did not plan on having a fire as we assumed that there was a fire ban. Turns out there wasn’t for that campground. Next time I will check before we leave. We will come back.

From Newport, WA follow State Highway 20 north for 15 miles to the town of Usk. Cross the bridge over the Pend Oreille River on the east edge of town and follow the Kings Lake Road (County Road 3389) 8 miles to the junction of Forest Road 5032350 (Kings Mountain). Follow Kings Mountain for 0.5 mile to the campground entrance.
South Skookum Lake is accessible via State Highway 20, which is approximately 15 miles south of the campground.

Policies & Rules
Cancellation policy
- Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
- Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
- Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
- Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
- Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
- Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
- Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.

- Store all food and attractants securely to prevent wildlife encounters.
Cancellation policy
- Reserved sites held until check-out time the day after arrival; no shows will lose reservation.
