Campsite was a mess when we arrived. Bathroom was dirty, smelled horrible and not stocked. Camp host no where to be found. Biting flies were out like crazy. Couldn't walk outside without getting attacked. The river was nice and only a short walk from the campsites. That was the only good thing. Will never book here again.

We love Soapstone. It is where we go the most. It is quiet, has lots of trees, and walking around the campground is relaxing. It’s a good spot from which to start day hikes and picnics. We’ll be going again soon!

This was a great spot! The site was fairly big with a fire pit and bench. We were only about 25 yards from the river which was a bonus. The site fit a 17 ft camper and truck, but it was tight lengthwise! I don't think anything bigger would have fit. The grounds were kept up and the bathroom was clean. This was a beautiful spot to stay!

Great camp sight. It's right next to the river, and the bathrooms are right down the road. There's also a ton of shade, and the trees gave us a lot of privacy and protection from the wind.

Soapstone is a nice quiet campsite with decently well dispersed sites that offers tons of shade from mature pines and aspens through the campground. The river is on the back side of the loop and seasonal creeks run through many of the other sites throughout the campground. Our site felt very private and had a new fire pit with built in grill and a very large picnic table that could easily sit 10+ people. Pit toilets are spaced throughout. The road is well paved and smooth. The campground consists of several one direction loops, but be advised that many sites require RVs and trailers to drive against the flow of traffic to back into their designated sites.

Altitude is on the lower side for the Uintas, so it is a great early and late season campground but may be warm for mid-summer July-August.

Bring bug spray, as the site had plenty of mosquitoes at dusk. The ground was also pretty silty so be ready for little ones and pets to get covered in dust.

During our stay an adult moose was seen multiple times walking through campsites along the river.

Overall a great site if you’re looking for a lower altitude campground to relax to or use as a home base to explore the Uintas.
