We booked a site with lakeside access for maximum boating time and it was the right thing to do. Trial Lake does have a watercraft launch area, but for lake freaks like us, site access is the only way. The site itself was well shaded and maintained with enough space between neighboring sites to keep things orderly. The lake is stocked by Fish and Game every year and the fishing is always hot.

The lake is nice for canoeing. Many of the sites have some nice shade. They have firewood available to buy there for a reasonable price so that you don't risk bringing pests into the area. Our family has been here many times and it's a nice place to camp. The water was not potable when we went, so I was really glad we had brought our own water or that would have been a disaster. The pit toilets were taken good care of, so they didn't smell too bad. The camp host was very nice to us.
