The campsite is conveniently located within walking distance of the shuttle. It was fully booked, and the sites were close together, though this is understandable given its popularity.

I camped and charged my vehicle in B#20, a 50amp slot with beautiful views!
However, the power was flaky, I was not able to use my 40amp Tesla charger and switched to a 32amp Tesla charger which became very hot and quickly dialed itself down to 16amp so I disconnected and let it cool. When I plugged it back in I set it to 16amp and charged overnight without difficulty and charged enough to easily reach Bryce Canyon. I reported the issue as it is a safety concern.
In summary, Watchman Campground is a fantastic place with or without power, but if you’re using it, check your connection after 10 minutes for overheating!

We weren't sure if we'd be able to snag a spot in Zion, but a couple days before we got there, I checked one last time and found 2 different electric spots for my 2 nights. Meaning I'd have to move between nights, but that was fine. And we were driving a Class C RV so it was easy to transition.

So, we woke up early to pack up camp and drove to the oversized vehicle lot where we parked while we made breakfast and got ready for the day. Then, when our hikes were over, we returned to the RV and moved it into the new spot. Easy peasy. I was concerned about the potential crowds, but the first morning, we moved the RV at about 8 and there was plenty of space. the next morning we moved around 9 and there weren't quite as many spaces but still no prob.

We were prepared for crowds and people said the watchman camp was too tightly arranged but we did not find this to be the case. The campground was plenty open and if we had been able to spend more time there it would have been fine. Complaints about exposure were not accurate. Overall, there is plenty of shade in the camp. I suppose if you're tent camping and your spot doesn't have a shade tree, you might get hot. But you can read reviews of individual spots to find out before you go. We were in B 014 and B 028. Both spots were shaded.

We were a nice little walk away from the bridge to Spingdale and the first Zion shuttle stop. 10 minutes maybe. No biggie. We walked over to the general store for dinner the first night and ate at the Springdale brewpub the second night.

Some reviewers complained of bees. We didn't see any bees at our spot or anywhere along our walks through the camp.

I can't compare Watchman to any other Zion campgrounds, but I see it like this...You're there to see the canyon. The campground is a place to sleep. Your top priority should be to minimize entry time. Staying at Watchman is the best way to do that.

Also, we never had to wait in line for the shuttle. Walked right on every time.

Not a ton of shade but the one tree gave relief for a little while in the hot July sun. Not a ton of privacy but it’s close to the bathrooms, visitor center and town. Clean with beautiful view of the cliffs and stars.

The customer service was non existent from check in onwards. We had to move sites, just as our neighbours and it would have taken no time to avoid that and both groups of campers would have enjoyed the park better.
