We had a wonderful at Fort Valley Ranch! The trail was beautiful and the weather was perfect. Our guides were great and explained everything to us very clearly. The only reason I am giving 4 stars is because if you book a 1 hour ride, you will only ride for about 30 minutes. The other 30 minutes you are getting on your horse. We booked 1.5 hours so it worked great with a 1 hour ride, but it’s just something to keep in mind! We highly recommend going to Fort Valley Ranch!

We had such a wonderful time on our trail ride here! We came to celebrate my daughter's 8th birthday (she turned 8 the day of our ride). She wanted to go horseback riding for her birthday so we called ahead and booked the 1.5 hr ride for the two of us. They were really friendly and helpful over the phone with what to wear and what to bring, as well as how to find the farm.
I rode Mohawk and my daughter rode Parker. Our guide, Nichole, rode Briar. It was a perfect day for a ride through the forest. My daughter had never been horseback riding before, but the horses are all well trained and sweet. She got to give Parker a treat afterwards. They had the shorter stirrups for her as well as riding helmets we were welcome to borrow. We went at a nice meandering pace along the trail, which was lovely through the forests right near George Washington National Forest. We did a big shaded loop, so it never got too hot in the saddle. We had brought water bottles but didn't end up needing them on our ride.
The campgrounds are well kept and lovely. They were chopping fresh firewood when we drove up and there was a small tidy campfire doing. Everyone was very kind, and it was just a great first experience for my daughter. She's already asking when she can go horseback riding again! Would definitely recommend for families!

Our family has a tradition of camping over Memorial Day weekend. We have been going to one lake campground for the past 20+ years. In recent years it has become quite unruly. This year we decided to try something new. Our search led us to Fort Valley Ranch & Campgrounds. WHAT AN INCREDIBLE FIND! This place has it all. Camping, fishing, archery and horseback riding. You can learn how to lasso a steer and play corn hole. We did the hour and a half horseback ride. It was so much fun. The staff were all very sweet, helpful and accommodating. It was peaceful, quiet and serene. It is also located just 20 minutes from Luray, VA in case you forget any essentials or want to turn the caverns. We will definitely be back.

We went to Fort Valley Ranch for my wife’s birthday, and the entire experience was honestly perfect. She’s been wanting to go horseback riding for a long time, and this completely exceeded our expectations. Dylan was our guide, and he was incredible. Super calm, easygoing, and just the kind of presence you want when you’re out on the trails. He made us feel comfortable right away, and you can tell he really knows what he’s doing. It never felt rushed or overly structured; just a really smooth, enjoyable ride. Jenna was also amazing. From the moment we arrived, she was so welcoming and kind, which really set the tone for the whole experience. The trails were beautiful, peaceful, scenic, and exactly what we were hoping for. And the horses were great too. I rode Parker and my wife had Tim, and they were both wonderful. Overall, it felt thoughtful, relaxed, and genuinely enjoyable from start to finish. I’d absolutely recommend Fort Valley Ranch and will definitely be coming back!

Just returned from Fort Valley Ranch & Campground. Had a great 3 day/2 night stay in the Elk and Moose cabins with friends. The staff was friendly and extremely attentive. Went on the 1.5 hour trail ride. The guides (Derrick and Nicole) were fantastic! The horses were sure footed, gentle and took great care of their riders. I highly recommend a trip to Fort Valley Ranch! Nothing like a nice campfire on a chilly fall evening with friends after a ride in the beautiful forest! Can’t wait to go back!!
