The camp ground was wonderful! Beware that if you are in the upper 50’s it is going to feel uphill both ways. Still very beautiful place to visit. We were there for the holiday weekend. Some didn’t seem to care that there was a quiet hour and was using a generator in the tent area passed quiet hour.

Site selection is important if you don’t want to boil in the sun. Bath houses are clean, campground is clean, nice hiking trails, lake is lovely. Ticks were a big problem so be prepared with tick repellent.

The main bathhouse was spotless! Even smelled good! My complaint is how close the campsites were. I go camping to relax and hear nature. This campground had the closest sites I've ever seen which is a shame because I have nothing else negative to say. Our site was sandwiched between two others and they were about 15 ft apart at most! I could hear the conversations on the other campsites. I was very disappointed. The lake was beautiful and the store/restaurant nearby were great!!

I think it would be great for the camp grounds around Philpott to start some type of summer actives for kids while camping. It could be as simple as nature talk at rhe amphitheater at salt house. Fishing lessons at the shelters. Teaching kids about the different fish in the lake. You could even charge a small fee or ask for donations to get kids involved.
