We’ve been to a lot of national parks and this one stands out…beautiful, relaxing, great hiking.

My camping trip was very nice. At check in you have to sign certain spots and write your vehicle down. I’m stubborn and don’t wear my glasses and admitted to the ranger. Who was glad to help show me where I needed to sign.
A few good things about this campground is IIF you’d like to park your car and leave it there are a few good hikes to walk to if that’s what you’d like to do.
Lewis Falls, the Appalachian trail, Dark Hollows falls, Big Meadows ( itself) and Rose River ( depending) are walkable hikes.
Dark Hollows you can’t have dogs on though.
It’s a beautiful area and sunrise depending on your campsite is so amazing.
Deer like to come by some sites and snack on things as they pass through the area..
I highly recommend this campground. You seriously can’t go wrong.
I will be back when I can make the time. Such a beautiful area and it feels like home to me.:)

We've been regulars at Big Meadows for more than 50 years and ALWAYS have a wonderful time. Yes, we've had rain, but always were prepared so that never dampened our interest/enjoyment. Perhaps current funding and staffing problems caused our first real problem - the toilet in men's restroom was closed for repairs during our stay and there was no indication when or if it would be repaired. Yes, there are alternates not too far away but our concern is that this may be the beginning. We have future reservations at the same site this year - and will enjoy our time there.

Our campsites were beautiful and the bear boxes were so helpful for keeping our stuff safe (and dry!). The entire campground is pretty and fun, the bathrooms were always clean and stocked, the rangers were fantastic. My mom stayed in the lodge while we camped and loved it. It’s great that there are lodging options close to the campground so that families with different preferences can still do a trip together. We had fun doing short hikes on the trails around the campground and through the meadow. Tons of cool birds. We heard owls vocalizing over our tent at night. Absolutely magical. This is one of my favorite places in the world.

We had a great stay at this camping site! It’s well located—just a short walk to two restroom facilities, the dump station, and showers and laundry. The site itself is spacious, providing plenty of room to spread out, and it comes equipped with a sturdy picnic table and a clean grill. A comfortable and practical spot for a relaxing camping experience.

Big Meadows rarely disappoints. I do wish that they would fix up the sites in the older section so that there were some level spots with less rocks to put up tents. The drives there could also use some fixing. The restroom Renovations were very nice.

Great sight for a tent. Has a patch to pitch on that offers a little privacy (compared to most national parks) due to some low bushes that also block light from cars driving through the campground at night
