We come here every other year because they have over 500 miles of trails, so you never have to hike the same trail twice. Definitely check out Rose River Falls, if you don't want to hike the entire loop, get on at the horse trail, go down to falls and come back up, not easy, but it's much shorter than doing the entire loop. utilize the Rangers at the visitors center they are so full of knowledge and great tips!! Only recommendation is don't stay in the D loop, they don't provide bear boxes and they don't cut the grass

Our stay was pleasant. We only stayed at Big Meadows for 1 night while traveling up the BRP/Skyline drive, but could have spent 2 nights because the CG facilities were nice (flush toilets, laundromat, campstore, nature center...) and there are many hiking & sightseeing opportunities in the area. The RV sites are all bigger than the listing on the reservation page, because they subtract 15' for a tow or toad vehicle.

Good location, however the other families were VERY loud. Multiple groups around us blasted music well past 1 am. There were screaming babies in one of the groups and they did not put all bear-attracting items away in their cars. Bathrooms were also not the cleanest and smelled. We purchased wood for $10 since the ground around our site was picked clean (also poured during the afternoon). $5 for showers but we did not use them.

We love to come to Big Meadows to kick back and relax. We had a great trip this year and our final week was at Big Meadows. Besides all the great features, there were three things that were a little bothersome this year. The cost of the showers had increased a lot. There was a long power outage which was bad for the lodge. We always make a point to eat a meal there one night and a lunch up at the visitor center grill. At the campground I could hear the generator noise at night that kept the freezers going at the lodge. Not their fault. We ended up going to Skyland for dinner, and we did eat lunch at the grill. An annoying thing that seems to keep happening at campgrounds across the country is people setting off their car alarms, especially in the middle of the night. Not much Big Meadows could have done about the noise issues but the five dollar shower cost seemed to be a lot. They do keep the showers clean and they are nice showers with plenty of hot water.
Big Meadows has wonderful sights and hikes all around. A few minor things would not keep us from going back. We were happy to see the cabin unit that burned at the Lodge being rebuilt. From the outside it looked great.
