Shenandoah is an incredible park! I stayed on a walk up tent site and it went great. Staff member at check in was efficient and helpful, site was easy to find, bathroom was clean and not too far. I spent the weekend hiking all over the park and loved it. My ONLY complaint is paying $5 for a shower! Seems like that could be included in the $30/night camping fees.

Great spot to get outdoors and camp! Good privacy without being too deep woods and have all the amenities nearby.

We absolutely loved camping here. The facilities are well maintained and clean, and it's extremely quiet. So glad we stayed here on our trip!

I was in site C122, which was very near the entrance & camp store. The campground was very well maintained, the bathrooms were very clean. My neighbors were quiet and everyone seemed to follow the quiet hour rules. My campsite itself was also nice, it was a bit out in the open. There were no trees to provide any privacy, which doesn’t bother me but might not be ideal for some. There is no service anywhere in the camp, but if you drive about 10 minutes away to any nearby viewpoint in the park you will have enough bars to send a text. I would stay again 👍🏻

My mom and I thoroughly enjoyed our trip to big Meadows. We went to the ccc camp tour with Ranger. Carl is very informative and it was good to see him again since I have been on one of his walks before. I definitely recommend the reindeer activities while hiking in the park is fun. The range activities are very insightful and gives you lots of history about the park. I will definitely be camping in big Meadows again and in national parks.

Staff are friendly and knowledgeable, facilities perfectly satisfactory (showers are great) and the natural beauty worth it all. A stunning natural spring just below the E loop is well worth a visit, just watch out for the remains of a concrete abutment wall with some exposed rebar. It's painted yellow, helpfully.
I encourage visitors to keep their campsite clear, as previous campers had left a good deal of litter around the table and fire pit of my campsite which takes time for rangers to clean, and is not courteous to other campers.
Also, a PSA to all campers - the campground is more strict about food and fires, and if you leave food/coolers out, or a fire burning while you are not at your campsite, rangers will likely confiscate the food and put out your fire. The rangers are doing their job. Let's do ours.

Awesome campground, with cooler summer temperatures. Only drawback was the hassle of having to purchase and insert 20 quarters into the machine for a 5 or 10 minute shower. It you are going to charge for showers, find a more efficient way to manage it. Sell $5 tokens instead of 20 quarters! Also, as with most campgrounds, quiet hours are not enforced. It’s a shame that a few disrespectful campers can make everyone annoyed.
