We had a great time despite the low clouds. We got to hike Stony Man, look at the stars and enjoy the views. My 9 year old even became a Junior Ranger. Everything was excellent.

Big Meadows is my wife's favorite camping spot and near the top for me. There are numerous nearby hiking spots including along the Appalachian Trail which runs adjacent to the west side camping area. We usually camp S-F to avoid the weekend partiers and had a mostly quiet and restful time. Be forewarned, cell service is terrible unless one hikes to the amphitheater. My primary complaint is the outrageous cost of showers: $5 ( in quarters for minutes). We usually sponge bathe. Wish there were more gravel biking opportunities, but good biking on the Skyline Dr.

Beautiful area for car camping. Go during the week when it’s not too crowded! Places to buy supplies if you need. Amazing hiking all around!!

People next to us were very loud up until about 4am. They were also ripping bongs. Other then that good experience

The best facilities I have ever seen at a national park. How often have you visited a campsite anywhere and said aloud, "wow, this is so clean?" That is what I said when I entered the showers here. Well-stocked, accessible, and quiet, with everything you could need on site. Just remember to bring a roll of quarters or some 1s and 5s for the change machines.
