Beautiful park and facilities. Big Meadows has great amenities (water pump, utility sink for dishwashing, ice and firewood for sale, etc.), calm and beautiful campgrounds, and central location to some great trails. Definitely recommend a sunset and sunrise hike during your time in the park, but you can see the sun rise from some of the sites at Big Meadows as well. Check out the sunset up at the Blackrock - walkable from Big Meadows (about a mile maybe), beautiful! We also enjoyed hiking Stony Man and Hawksbill.

Big Meadows Campground was clean, quiet at night, and family friendly. This site was great for a feeling of privacy, while still being close to the amenities of a larger campground. Be aware that the walk to this campsite is no joke. Next time, we will pack lighter. We would have preferred a tent pad farther away from the fire pit.

Clean, warm bathrooms. Site was nice and campground was close to a camp store for extra supplies!

Wonderful site and clean campground. Did end up putting out a couple fires that had been left smoldering at the picnic area due to high winds and high fire danger going into the evening. Great place though.

Had an RV site. Spot was slightly unlevel and had broken pavement by where the door was so it was a huge step up and down out of the RV. Otherwise, the site was decent and quiet. It would be great if other campers didn't walk through sites though. There are plenty of paths to go around.
The major complaint is the showers. When you pay $5 for a shower, the curtain should close all the way so your stuff doesn't get wet, there should be hooks on the walls to hang your belongings, but mostly importantly, hot water would be great. Even moderately hot. My shower was lukewarm at best. It was definitely invigorating.
When we were here, most of the visitor centers were closed, which there was no notice of. We did enjoy the drive and the hikes.
They do offer gas in the park, which isn't super expensive compared to the surrounding town. I'll happily pay an extra .30 a gallon for the convenience.
