Camping here was a memorable experience for my family and me. The campgrounds were very well kept, clean and organized. The activities offered are a great plus and just the scenery and adventures that you can have here are amazing. As someone who has camped all over the country, I look forward to coming back here again!

We recently stayed one night at one of the campgrounds in Shenandoah National Park. As instructed, we placed our food in the bear boxes since our site did not have one. Because the nearby box was shared, we did not place a lock on it so that others could use it as well.
Unfortunately, in the morning we discovered that all of our food and supplies had been removed from the bear box. We spoke with the rangers, but it appears that another visitor may have taken our items.
We wanted to share this experience because it was disappointing and impacted our visit. Perhaps clearer guidance on sharing bear boxes, or a way to secure items in shared boxes, could help prevent this issue for future visitors.
Thank you for maintaining such a beautiful park—we truly enjoyed the natural environment despite this incident.

I have been coming to Shenandoah National Park for the past 40 years. Yes, FORTY years. It is my all time favorite place to be. I love the peace and serenity I find when I'm there. I have probably hiked all the trail around Big Meadow and many others, including 50 miles of the AT. Favorite trails: Rose River, Rapidan Camp, Hawksbill, Stony Man and I can't forget, Bearfence (although I am not able to do that rock scramble/climb anymore). Recommend trail ride at least once.

Bathrooms and showers were clean and well maintained. Campsite was awesome, saw so many deer up close. Central to a lot of great hikes. Camp hosts were friendly and great. Highly recommend
