Great spot centrally located in Shenandoah national park with lots of beautiful hikes nearby and great campground amenities like showers, laundry, and clean bathrooms.

Good location, however the other families were VERY loud. Multiple groups around us blasted music well past 1 am. There were screaming babies in one of the groups and they did not put all bear-attracting items away in their cars. Bathrooms were also not the cleanest and smelled. We purchased wood for $10 since the ground around our site was picked clean (also poured during the afternoon). $5 for showers but we did not use them.

Our stay was pleasant. We only stayed at Big Meadows for 1 night while traveling up the BRP/Skyline drive, but could have spent 2 nights because the CG facilities were nice (flush toilets, laundromat, campstore, nature center...) and there are many hiking & sightseeing opportunities in the area. The RV sites are all bigger than the listing on the reservation page, because they subtract 15' for a tow or toad vehicle.

We come here every other year because they have over 500 miles of trails, so you never have to hike the same trail twice. Definitely check out Rose River Falls, if you don't want to hike the entire loop, get on at the horse trail, go down to falls and come back up, not easy, but it's much shorter than doing the entire loop. utilize the Rangers at the visitors center they are so full of knowledge and great tips!! Only recommendation is don't stay in the D loop, they don't provide bear boxes and they don't cut the grass

Always a pleasure to camp at big meadow in the Shenandoah valley. I’ve been going for over 30 years and now take my children. We typically use the walk to tent sites and always find them clean and the restrooms within walking distance are also kept clean. I will say $5 for showers is a bit steep (don’t forget your quarters sometimes the change machine is out) but they were always hot. I suggest always chatting with the camp host you get some great insight even knowing the park so well I always learn something new. Rose river falls is by far our favorite hike with children 3-11 so far we do the loop starting on the horse trail and ending up the fire roads.
