Love's RV Hookup-South Hill VA 469

Easy access off the highway and into nice new hookups. Nice for smaller, but I have a 45' with trailer. Still I was able to easily maneuver into the end spot and backed out when leaving. Reservations were easy and quick and yes a well stocked store. They have a convenient dog park and plenty of room for them to walk.

The worst night. First off, there was trash everywhere- all garbage cans were full! Second, the dog park was disgusting- overflowing with trash, even a diaper!! People did not pick up after their dogs and a bottom section of the gate was bent back so smaller dogs could escape! Someone was leaf blowing at 5 AM near the RV and the dump station was inconveniently located. Was louder than expected. And
to top it off- the building across the street had a fire alarm going off ALL Night long! Would not recommend unless in a pinch and didn’t need a dog park.

6 reasons to avoid this stop.
1. The site was listed as being 70 feet long but it barely fit our 34 foot long fifth wheel. We had to park our truck at the gas station behind us.
2. The arrangement of the sites and driveway make it very difficult to get out. We had to turn into the grass to get out. If other sites were occupied, it would have been even more challenging. There was a scissor lift in the turn around area which made it even more difficult to navigate.
3. The sites are at the main entrance and in front of the gas station. Very loud with music and car horns going off the entire night.
4. People thought it was a dog walk area-poop every where.
5. Drivers used the RV area to turn around and go for walks even at night. The area should be gated off like your other location in GA.
6. Dump station is not in a convenient location-next to the gas pumps. You will block the air compressor station for other customers. There was also a tree that was not trimmed that scratched our camper.

This was our first experience with a Love’s RV site and the reason for 3 stars is because there was a truck undergoing repairs in the car parking area at 3am. We did not expect this site to be completely quiet and even remarked that the RV sites were as far from the big trucks as possible. So why does Love’s allow mechanical work to be performed in the car parking area adjacent to the RV sites?

Otherwise, this was a good stop. It is easy off and on I-85 in southern Virginia and if you’re familiar with this stretch of road, via RV or car, the stops are few and far between. We needed a quick overnight on our way south and there are not many (any?) RV options in the area so it makes sense that Love’s added this location to its nascent RV parking business model: three of the five sites were occupied. Aside from the truck repair, the site was as quiet as could be expected, the Love’s store was clean and well stocked with a Subway and McDonald’s for dinner options if you don’t want to cook after driving all day.

Extremely disappointed and disgusted!
Booked site 5 days earlier with note we would arrive in the middle of the night. When we got there at 2:40 AM, a camper was in our site, and man refused to leave, stating a Love’s employee activated the power on our site for him. I am not sure how you activate power without confirming identity, especially when it is easy to do from your phone if you have a legitimate reservation. Police were called and after a lot of back and forth in the rain, the man was finally forced to vacate our site so we could have it by 4 AM. To top it all off, the same man hooked into our site’s electrical box after we went to bed.

RV hook up sites are a great convenience.
Giving away reserved sites to others will ruin your reputation.
