About Stony Fork Campground

Stony Fork, tucked in a dense forest setting, is located at the foot of Big Walker Mountain beside the Big Walker Mountain Scenic Byway. The East Fork of Stony Fork Creek winds through the campground, providing a serene setting for trout fishing and water play for visitors at the welcoming campground. The 1 mile Stony Fork Nature Trail takes campers through groves of pine and hardwoods, and the campground loop road makes for a scenic walk, too.

We decided on spending some time at Stony Fork Campground in lieu of another one we frequent that was closed for renovations. We very much enjoyed our stay at Stony Fork.

Camp sites were nice size and private. Bathrooms/showers need some TLC but were adequate. We would stay here again.

Very peaceful and nice area. Staff were friendly. It’s just a short 10 min drive up the mountain to the Big Walker overlook where you can grab lunch and some yummy ice cream. We really enjoyed out weekend stay!

Lovely little campground in a quiet, peaceful area. My only suggestion would be updates to the aging bathhouses.

STONY FORK Campground is a regular stopover for me on cross country trips to visit family in VA twice a year or more. It is always quiet, peaceful, and lovely! I particularly love it when the blackberry bushes are flowering and I love the bunnies and the creek. Always happy to arrive at this lovely campground.

Lots of bath houses available. Pretty clean. Did not like that there was no hose at the dump location. There is nowhere for run off to go when you clean out your hose after you dump. Pad was very large and level. Water fills would have been better if they had threads. The campground was well spaced and laid out well.
