Interrorem Cabin

Cabin was in terrible condition. Appears to be abandoned. Door lock batteries and thermostat batteries all dead. Mice poop everywhere with lots of mice inside the cabin at night. Disaster. It’s been going downhill for years and now it’s there.

4 nights. Cabin is RIGHT AT the trailhead, and a stone's throw from the road. Lots of visitors banging on the door, peering through the windows, asking if I'm the Ranger. Asking about trail info, and seasonal closings.
Also had a local getting funny, revving his truck engine while sitting in the street. Not brave enough to come on down to see what I thought about it, though.
No lights in the kitchen at all though propane present.
Tip: Close bedroom curtain, and hang a blanket between the kitchen and main room to optimize heat for the main room.
Ranger Hole is worth the visit.

Nice cabin with good atmosphere

All appliances (heat, range and lights) worked as advertised. Wish there was running water and a dedicated out house though. The outhouse shared with the day hikers did not lock. The bed mattress covers are dingy and worn. Overall a great experience. And one more thing...we are foodies and Halfway Hous in Brinnon was below par. Homemade croutons on salid were rancid as was the pie crusts. Eating options in Quilcene are much better!

Propane heat and lighting. Cabin thermostat is turned down to 55 when unoccupied, but heats up quickly. Cabin is simple, clean, and comfortable: no fridge, running water, or electricity, but we knew that. kMight need to bring some more utensils if there's more than two of you Ranger Hole Trail (0.8 mi) down to the Duckabush River begins next to cabin; it's a nice walk.

The place is great. Propane fireplace, stove, and lights worked fine. Make sure you bring a lighter for the lights and water for drinking and cleaning. There are plates cups, basic pans, and few utensils to use.

The downside is the trailhead right there. People will walk up to the cabin while you are in there and peek inside. Even though there are signs stating to not enter the fence.

This was such a peaceful getaway, no wifi, no cable, no electricity, and no water. Bring what you need. There are lots of games, puzzles, and books to look through, moss covered trees to wander through, and a beautiful river to walk to. The propane stove/heater was a cozy way to stay warm and the propane lights gave perfect ambiance. We didn't try to cook on the cooktop so can't comment to that. As I said bring all the water, cooking utensils, warm blankets, things you may need and be prepared for quiet restfulness. The pit toilet is not terrible as far as pit toilets go but it is a bit of a walk from the cabin so be prepared. I would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful location that's close to anything you want to do in the Olympic Mountains. It was gorgeous and is close to the Halfway House Cafe which was an excellent find!

Amazing! Please keep it rustic. Never add electricity!

You might want to say what a “mantle” is or have a diagram on light Instructions. Might also need extra mantles for the ones that have holes. A snow shovel would be good too…we were snowed in and broom is tricky…!

Otherwise so awesome!!
The futon was hard to put away and I don’t think the oven worked. (That’s okay!)

I was hoping to learn who the people in the photos were too. So wonderful to see them and see all the journals. THANK YOU!!!
