Interrorem Cabin

Beautiful location that's close to anything you want to do in the Olympic Mountains. It was gorgeous and is close to the Halfway House Cafe which was an excellent find!

Cozy cabin, clearly well loved and taken care of by its visitors.

You might want to say what a “mantle” is or have a diagram on light Instructions. Might also need extra mantles for the ones that have holes. A snow shovel would be good too…we were snowed in and broom is tricky…!

This was my third time staying here, and the cabin's charm still doesn’t disappoint. I read some of the previous negative reviews and I want to advise that this isn't a vrbo or airbnb, this is a facility the forest service is keeping open for equal access to the park. The cabin is historic and maintained by renters and the park rangers, and it's perfect if you are looking for a rustic experience that is loved by many (think car camping with a roof / oven / furniture). I don’t recommend this for people with expectations past that. I love this cabin and hope the USFS continues its legacy.

Super cute cabin; super inexpensive. But it's located right next to the parking lot of a popular summer trail head...In July there was a lot of traffic right at the cabin...so it didn't feel very private. Beautiful river (Duckabush); but had zero luck fishing. We ended up spending our days at Camp Collins, about 2 miles up the road, which was awesome. Next time we would probably just camp there. Still the cabin was fun, historically interesting and a good base camp to explore the area. Enjoyed Hood Canal beaches around Brinnon. Appreciate the Forest Service making these places available!

Very quiet and peaceful. The hike next to cabin, the Ranger's hole, is worth it.

We have been to the Interrorem Cabin many times and were sadden to see it is not being taken care of on our last visit. This cabin has stood steady 115 years, seems like we should be taking care better care of it. Please if you are staying in this cabin plan to take some time to clean and care for it. Take your muddy boots off on the porch. Store food to not invite mice.
Clean everything you used well before putting it away, and sweep out the cabin before you leave. The trail to ranger hole is great and was fun. Tiger Lilly and trillium in bloom. Did a few great waterfall hikes near by. Saw Rhododendrons, Elk and Turkey Vultures. Spent an afternoon at low tide at Port Whitney. This would be fun on a kayak too. To bring: normal gear like car camping. Including: water, trash bags, dish towel, dish soap. Battery operated hanging lights are good to have too for less gas smell in the cabin.

We hope to have this cabin around for the next generation.

The listed amenities are not available. The broken refrigerator has been taken out after a long stay on the back porch. Light fixtures are broken. You will need to bring your own lanterns. The rangers claim someone comes into the cabin to clean on Thursday’s, but the extensive amount of mice droppings in the silverware drawers and window seals show that they are clearly not doing their job if they even show up at all. The cabin itself is a historic gem in a beautiful setting. It’s a shame the rangers in charge of it don’t treat it that way.
