Charbonneau Park and Campground is highly praised for its beautiful, well-maintained grounds, friendly and accommodating staff, and clean facilities, offering a peaceful camping experience with lovely views of the lake. Many visitors appreciated the ample space between sites and the campground's overall cleanliness, noting it as a great place for families and outdoor activities. However, some campers reported issues with uneven tent sites, occasional water problems, and the presence of pests like earwigs and goatheads, which detracted from their experiences.

It was peaceful and the grounds were well maintained. The bathrooms were super clean. Only thing to be aware of is the surplus of goatheads growing in the grass, if you are tent camping be careful lol

A very quiet beautiful campground. We enjoyed the many kinds of birds.
Warning for bicycle riders. We got 3 flat tires. There are goat head plants off of pavement.
Stay on roads or /and carry extra tubes.
We enjoyed our time and will be back..

A little disappointed that the grass was dead and dried, especially during high fire danger, it was so green and beautiful last year. Hope they get it back to a healthy space.

Shower house had no hot water. A beautiful park and campground. We did have concerns regarding some of the trees that had what looked like dead branches. In a windstorm this could be a problem if they were to break and fall on a tent or RV. Other than that, a very quiet and peaceful experience. A great place to stay!

Our campsite was right on the water with lots of birds and sunset views. The bathrooms were spotless and the campsites very cleaned and well-maintained. It was very quiet but we were there midweek and before the summer season really started. There is a concession that you can text for delivery of firewood and ice and they were wonderful and friendly. Volunteers and rangers were all very helpful. It is a bit of a walk to the bathroom ( only one for the whole park) and only a few sites have water hookups in addition to electric hookups. However, you cannot beat the price especially your federal senior pass!

The park is clean and feels safe. The camp host peruses the campground often. The bathrooms are clean, just a bit rundown. We did experience the smell of sewage/septic in the evenings which was rather unpleasant. There is a boat and barge traffic on the river which is fun to watch. I hoped to see more birds than we did. The "swimming" area next to the boat launch is tiny. We declined to swim. There isn't much to do except hang out at your campsite or walk to the campground checking out how everyone else is set up to camp.

We love camping and visiting Charbonneau. This trip and the last couple, the earwigs have been SO bad. They cover anything outside. And the grass area in front of the swimming area was covered in goatheads. Which people walked through them with shoes on and tracking them into the "sandy" gravel area closer to the water. I shared that with the Ranger who is always very friendly and said he would look into the weeds. Forgot to mention the earwigs. Not sure what you can do about those, maybe spray? I know many other campers mentioned them also. Thanks for providing a fun and safe place for us to go to!
