The campground was unexpectedly closed due to a local forest fire. 3 days later, recreation.gov informed us of the closure. It’s been over a week since the reservation was cancelled, but I have yet to receive a refund. It was not a great experience at all, we were lucky that we were flexible enough to come up with an alternate plan.

Sadly the fires caused the campground to be closed and we were not able to enjoy Kachess. Shouldn't I get a refund from rec.gov as we were not able to stay at the campsite?

We stayed on the Mineral Creek loop and absolutely loved our visit. Campsites were clean, large and private. The bathrooms were clean and conveniently located. The lake was beautiful. We will be back.

We have been camping at Kachess for 40 plus years. Seen a lot of changes.
We enjoy our week long annual family get together in the box canyon camp area.
Kachess have become so popular that it makes getting your favorite camp site a challenge.
I would love to see higher lake levels but our recent low snow packs during the winter doesn’t support this.
Overall, we love camping here. It’s close enough to home in case of emergency and any forgotten items can be picked up in nearby Cle Elem.
It can get a little busy, (noisy) on the weekend.
We prefer the midweek dates the best.
Hope to be back next year.

One of our new favorite camp site! Would have wanted little more tree cover, but otherwise very nice camp site. Access to the water was a big plus.
