The campground and sites are great, the CG host overseeing our loop was very helpful.
Note that ALL of the sites in Box Canyon had reservations but only a small fraction were actually there in person. The reservation system is broken, so if you’re wanting to camp here and are willing to take a risk, you can technically take over a spot from reserved guests who didn’t show by 2p the day after their registration starts. Make sure you read the rules clearly to make sure I’m not saying anything incorrect, and it’s probably a good idea to check in with the CG host on your spot take-over.

Great location by the lake, we paddle boarded. Camping site was clean, restrooms were not bad (with water, no bathing). The store at the camp site was out of firewood, but they let us pick broken twigs and wood from the ground and use as firewood, we found enough firewood (plus some left over from the previous group) for us to grill and cook and enjoy a small campfire. We were told the firewood ban would start sometime soon in July. Rangers were friendly and helpful. No network at all at the site, but there good network at the lake by the general store.

I camped a couple nights at Kachess with my youngest daughter. The sites were very nice. Garbage free. We brought our bikes and cruised all over. Fishing at various spots along the shore. Very beautiful and peaceful.

Stayed in Bear grass --unexpectedly this year the small (older) green bathrooms with running water were operational. This was a nice bonus over the pit toilet in that loop. Midweek they were kept clean and stocked with TP.
The camp host was quite nice and came around to check in with everyone.

Overall a nice and well maintained place with friendly staff including the hosts in Gale Creek Loop. We were there mid June and they were out of firewood but there was some firewood stands on the way in that you could get wood for a better price. There is a store near the beach and boat ramp but they have limited items, no ice and limited cold items as they get power from a generator so be prepared. I do plan on coming back again!

Each year we love going to Lake Kachess. This year the water level was great. We were able to put our kayaks and paddle boards in with no problem. It is so beautiful. The staff was friendly and helpful.

From Seattle, travel east on I-90 approximately 62 miles, or from Cle Elum travel west on I-90 approximately 20 miles. Take exit 62 and follow Kachess Lake Road for 5.5 miles to the campground, which is on the right.
Kachess is accessible via I-90, which is approximately 14 miles to the north, providing access to major cities and routes in the region.

General
- Water levels in Kachess Lake and Little Kachess Lake vary during the summer
- First-come, first-served sites may be available
- Off-road vehicle use is not permitted in the campground
- Reserved campsites will be held until check-out time (noon) on the day following your scheduled arrival.
- The campground may be full and no accommodations may be available after a no show is processed.
- Citations may be issued for exceeding Max Occupancy and campsite footprint
- Pets must be leashed in the campground at all times
- Firewood is available to purchase at the campground for $10.00/bundle.

- Don't Move Firewood: Please protect Pacific Northwest forests by preventing the spread of invasive species. - Water is available in this location via a handpump and/or water spigot. Please DO NOT attach your RV hoses to the water systems we provide. These are made available to you to fill your water jugs/buckets and take back to your site to use. If you need to fill your RV water tanks, please fill your tank before you come to the campground.
