Great camping area by the lake. We went on a holiday weekend and the access road leading to entrance was very narrow because of the line of cars of daytime picnickers parked along the side of the road. There was barely enough room to pass a car coming the other way. The campsite itself was very nice we did see a lot of trees cut down though not sure why that was.

Kachess is one of our favorite campsite that my family and friends have come every year. The campsites are surrounded by the mountains and the pristine Lake Kachess. However, over the past few years, the lake seems like it is getting drained with coast line getting lower. Also, there are more motor boat (boats with larger motor and jet skis) traffic, which makes the tranquil escape an experience of the past.

Our family and friends have been coming to Lake Kachess annually, for 33 years, reserving up to 6 or 7 campsites. Obviously, we love this Campground.

However, over the last several years, one persistent, and very concerning health problem continues in Mineral Loop at Kachess.
The SOLE bathroom is ALWAYS horribly dirty, and not cared for. Overflowing waste basket, toilet tissues being used for drying hands scattered on floor, and MOST annoying, is that the sink faucet either does not work at all, or needs to be held in place to facilitate getting any water to run. This has gone on for at LEAST 3-4 years!!!!!!!! It needs to be fixed.
This year was particularly bad!! The camp host was struggling to manage two campsite loops, and, then given a third to oversee. Per our conversation with him, one staff person was let go, so he and his partner had to manage another area, and the check- in booth as well! Seriously??
Hence, the sited bathroom was NEVER maintained. NO TOILET paper for two days!!!!, trash laying all over, and no running water!!!!!! Clearly a sanitation issue, and clearly unacceptable in a 100% capacity campground. Ultimately, I got a supply of TP from him, and, as a camper, stocked the bathroom for him. But I/we were not willing to clean up, or attempt to fix the water faucet. Additionally, one stall was posted and closed, with an "out of order" sign

This popular campground, when filled to capacity, brings in a sizable revenue. Why then, is it so inadequately and poorly staffed? The camp host this season, though pleasant, seemed ill equipped and certainly overwhelmed. And, understandably frustrated with the increased work load!

We are URGING the US Forest Service to have the Mineral Loop bathroom repaired and renovated. It is a public health issue to not have running water. And, we are also urging the Recreation. Gov to evaluate the inadequacy of camp-host staff.

Camping was great and we had plenty of room for everyone. My only call out is if you're looking to book Spot 55 and 58 since they look close together, they are not. 55 is across the road (maybe 20-30 yards) on the other side from 58. After walking around, I'd recommend 59 and 62 if you're looking for spots near each other (it looks like 60 is in the middle between the two on the map, but it's actually on the other side of the road).

Perfect camp for families- spread enough so it doesn't feel crowded, kids may bike around, the lake is cold but beautiful. We come back a few times every summer.

We got off to a rough start. We arrived and the previous group was still set up in our spot. There was some kind of miscommunication, someone thought our reservation was cancelled, but it wasn't. The front gate had our reservation so not sure where the mix up came from. Big kudo's to Harry for being patient with us and helping us search for another spot to temporarily stay in until the next morning. We were pretty disappointed that this was how our trip started and it was a but inconvenient to have to move everything the next day, but he was very kind about it all and refunded our first night, which was appreciated! As someone who works in customer service I get wanting to make every customer happy, and while we weren't the happiest campers to begin with he made sure to check back in with us throughout the weekend to make sure we were having a good time. His good service definitely saved the day and a customer.

It’s was a very good camp ground. The only downside was not being able to have a campfire due to the burn ban.
Next time I will make sure there is no ban before I make reservations.
