About Spring Canyon

Spring Canyon Campground, on the shoreline of Lake Roosevelt, is perfect for those who enjoy being on the water. The 130-mile long lake is a feature of the Columbia River created by the Grand Coulee Dam. The lake is named after President Franklin D. Roosevelt and is a part of the Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area, managed by the National Park Service. Campers have the convenience of a day-use swimming area and plenty of space to sit back and soak up the summer sun and cooler days of spring and fall.

What Guests Are Saying

Spring Canyon Campground offers large lots and stunning views, with proximity to the beach and a lovely hiking trail. The park is well-maintained, featuring clean facilities and friendly staff, making it ideal for family gatherings and outdoor activities. However, some campers noted the closeness of sites, lack of shade, and noise from generators and nearby campers as downsides.

The recreation guy who rides around in the golf cart is super rude, disrespectful of other cultures and stated to us personally that "Ukrainians are awful". The guy rides around flashing his flashlight in everyone RV near area where family is gathered and wants to just relax and enjoy the outdoors. I wouldn't come back only because of him!

Great stay. Please provide soap in the bathrooms! And the groundskeeper on the gold cart was very rude and said horrible things to us. He also said racist comments to us.

We have camped here on and off since the late 1990's. I still love it -but it has changed a lot. Here are some of the things I used to enjoy and appreciate that are no longer there:
1. Junior Ranger program - not any more
2. Rangers evident - they used to patrol every day which gave me a greater sense of safety when I was on my own. Not any more
3. Camp host used to stop by and say hello - not any more
4. Beach store used to be open for ice creams, drinks etc - not any more
5. Beach used to be "cleaned" of trash, lost property etc - not any more
6. Used to be (free) kayak trip to a nearby lake - not any more

It;s still got what nature provided - beauty. But it certainly isn't what it used to be.

Well-kept campground, some campsites closer to each other than others. The map is kind of deceiving, but it was still a decent camp spot. Would go back again.

Campground is clean with a nice swim beach. We stayed there as a last minute reservation so camped under a carport structure, camps are side by side with absolutely no privacy. We would stay there again, but only in the lower loop or group sites.

Crowded and noisy. Loud generators being used late in the evening and early in the morning. Teenagers partying til 1 am.

In 2020 and 2021 there were certain campsites closed off for social distancing. When our large group made our reservations back in January 2022, these sites were still blocked out. We reserved sites that should have been next to each other. Sometime between January and our reserved weekend, these sites were re-opened and made available to the public. Other people reserved these sites and were right in middle of our large group of four families. We were able to convince most of the parties to trade for our outermost sites so that our group could cluster together, but not every group was cooperative. This likely won’t happen again, unless sites are once again blocked for distancing. It added a lot of stress to our trip.
