Chatter Creek Group Site turned out to be a great place to camp. There is a sweet little bridge over a brook, a covered shelter and even a few easy hikes around the area. It was more than enough room for our group. The tent sites are a little dispersed but that made for good privacy in a group camp. We had 5 tents set up and there was room for a few more. We did go into the town of Leavenworth and enjoyed a bratwurst. The only downfall is the last leg of the road getting to the site is very rough but we managed. There was also a dumpster available so we didn't have to pack out which is nice.

The site itself is wonderful - no issues there. Accessing the site was a different story. There are two gates, one at the road that allows entry to the full chatter creek camp site and the second seperates the single sites from the group site. The first gate is managed by the forest service and unlocks with a key, the second is managed by the "site manager" (receation.gov?) and is a combination lock. Neither were open when we arrived and the combo code for the second was not emailed to me. We spent HOURS on the phone with recreation.gov trying to resolve this, which included driving back and forth the 30 minutes between cell service and the site all while our group of about 25 was stuck outside the gate. We were finally able to get the combo code for the 2nd gate over the phone (after about 2 hours of trying) but could not reach anyone to help with the key for the 1st gate. After about 5 hours and almost giving up we were rescued by a campground manager from a site about 25 minutes away that we had stopped by with hopes he could help, he happened to have a key... Terrible service if the "site manager" is unavaible to provide the combo code for the gate promptly and unable to coordinate with the forest service to have the gate unlocked, for the price of this site I would expect a lot better.

We love this site and have been there before and will rent again but this leaves a pretty bad taste in our mouths.

Huge site - beautiful and private grounds. No water in the group site area but there is water elsewhere in the camp. Nice shelter area on the top of the site, and huge firepit area at the bottom.

Site was very well maintained - firepits cleaned, area raked and picked up, bathrooms excellent. The camp hosts (John and Joanna ??) were helpful and pleasant. Good people!
