Hamma Hamma Cabin

Always love the Hamma Hamma cabin, but this time it appeared to be suffering from need for maintenance. Perhaps USFS is suffering from manpower shortages like so many other organizations?

Love this cabin more than life itself and it breaks my heart to see the neglect by the Forest Service. So many maintenance issues are not being addressed. The roof is in horrible condition, surprised it is not leaking. Also the cabin is supposedly closed for cleaning on Thursdays however I never see any evidence of that. When I stayed in March the windows were filthy and again 6 months later in October they were even worse! I always leave this cabin better than I found it so I cleaned all windows inside and out and made some new curtains for the windows. Please please please Forest Service start giving this precious cabin the TLC it deserves.

This is a fairly remote site with no cell service, so no calling the Quilcene Ranger Station. I returned home and called the ranger station, and they said they've been having trouble with that lock and are going to have someone check it out! I wonder how many others will be left out in the cold. We should get refunds at least.

I used this for a night to just escape and disconnect. I am eager to book again and go back with friends!

The cabin itself is beautifully restored and outfitted with everything you need to stay cozy. Unfortunately, it was clear that previous guests had disrespected this wonderful public resource by not cleaning up after themselves, as the Forest Service requests everyone do, since there is no clean-up crew coming between guests. It was also clear by the volume of pet hair present that people had been bringing their pets, which is unfortunate for other guests with allergies. Even though I loved the cabin, I likely won't stay here again because the culture of users seems to disregard the needs and experience of fellow users.
