Hamma Hamma Cabin

Super adorable cabin with a well stocked kitchen! The cabin was pleasantly clean as well. We did have an issue with a few of the mantels being unusable, causing the carbon dioxide alarm to go off, SCARY!! making for a very dark night 1. We went into town and bought all they had to replace/leave extras. We relaxed, explored, ate well, had a campfire and relaxed some more. I recommend bringing some additional lighting, slippers, and more water than you think! We also didn’t bring paper towels and ran out by day 2. Idk if those are supposed to be supplied by the cabin or if they were left behind. There was plenty of TP. Might not be a bad idea to bring a couple rolls of each just in case :)

The place was cute and decently maintained. There were a number of mice and we saw two running around. The place is closed once a week for cleaning. But it is clear the cleaning is not being done. We were there the day after cleaning was supposed to happen. There was a clogged sink drain with food waste. We swept the floors and collected to dust bins of hair, dog hair, dust, food scraps and mice droppings. The door window screen is torn. The stove cooktop is greasy and could use a good cleaning. There were good scraps left on the counters. All the cast iron skillets, except one, were in bad shape and needed cleaning.

The propane lighting mantels over the kitchen table were not fitted well and leaking not burning all the propane and leaving the cabin with smell of propane. The light over the stove had no glass covering and didnt burn cleanly. The back bedroom mantel makes a popping sound when it burns. 2 of the three carbon and fire dectors were missing batteries and the fire alarm in the hallway was missing.

The gate at the bottom doesnt have a lock on it so visitors show up and makes it uncomfortable when people drive in at night.

The fridge and freezer need cleaning a thawing.

Cabin was cozy as ever. Due to a slick slushy driveway we parked at the bottom and walked up with all our gear. Little did we expect our weekend to turn into a blizzard lock down! We went from no snow to 2+ feet overnight! It was beautiful but we were also stuck. Thankful for the heat and amenities!

This is our favorite NFS cabin, because the facilities are a little more developed than some others. We appreciate the indoor plumbing, which eliminates those late night trips in the dark to the outhouse! The only downside is, the bedrooms with the best beds can get quite cold at night. You can stay warm by sleeping on the futon in front of the heating stove, but this isn't as comfortable, and all the windows at that room means you're likely to be awakened at first light.
