What Guests Are Saying

Wapato Lake Campground offers a cute, peaceful atmosphere with beautiful views and well-maintained facilities, including clean restrooms and showers. Many visitors appreciate the family-friendly environment and the improvements made over the years. Great overall campground. Well kept, quiet, not too busy - we stayed Sunday - Wed. Tent & RV sites w/water & power. Showers & bathrooms are nice & clean. Lake access is really good. Boat launch is right next to campground.

This marks our fifth year visiting Wapato Lake Campground, and each year, our group continues to grow, making our trips even more special. I must commend the improvements made at the campsite over the years. The aesthetic upgrades are noticeable; the bathrooms are clean, the showers are in working order, and the grounds are well-maintained. It’s clear that the management is putting effort into enhancing the camping experience.

The lake itself is small and not overly deep, making it perfect for the kids to splash around and play safely.

However, there are a couple of areas for improvement. The showers require coins, which can be a hassle. It would be great to have a coin dispenser on-site or a way to obtain coins easily. Additionally, while we appreciate the groundskeepers’ efforts to enforce the rules, it sometimes feels excessive. For instance, we encountered a situation where our five-year-old was simply running and laughing after 10 PM, and an adult in our group received a scolding. The kids also had to leave the common grass area by 9:30 PM, even before quiet hours officially began.

What added to the frustration was the inconsistency in rule enforcement. We were not allowed early check-in or late check-out, while friends of the management seemed to have different privileges. It felt as though the rules were applied selectively, which shouldn’t happen at a state campground.

Despite these management quirks, the memories we’ve created at Wapato Lake far outweigh the frustrations. Our group is already looking forward to returning next year, as the joy of camping together and the beautiful surroundings make it worth it.

I must agreee this place has the best view and its a wonderful campground to stay at
but this place is absolutely way too strict NOW cant do anything without feeling to have the hosts approval on everything we do, felt like we were being watched every single second. We have stayed at multiple campgrounds before including this one but THIS TIME felt differently and unwelcoming. Also there was no water on either site that we reserved no lights on after 10 basically telling you to GO TO BED!!! Like being at a boarding school, thats how this place feels. We ended by leaving after paying three nights here. At the end we ended up going to a much BETTER place across. 😌

IF I COULD I'D GIVE THIS PLACE A HUGGEEEE ZEEEEROOO STAR not a one never ever again coming back to this place unless they do better sike not even like that.
