Very spacious and shaded site. But if you carcamp instead of setting up a tent, be aware that your parking space is next to the road, so not very private or quiet when sleeping.

We enjoyed the campground. Lots of shade for a hot week. Mostly a quiet weekday camp. It was our first trip to the Rainier area.

We booked D14 months in advance, very excited after researching that this site was riverfront. When we arrived there was a sign on our campsite that it was under construction and we were moved to a spot opposite the road by the woods. The campground was lovely overall but it was very disappointing to drive five hours and find that we didn’t have our reserved spot. A better option would have been to move us to another river site spot (FCFS) .

Stayed in both D loop and H loop. D loop is beautiful, but H loop more private and loved having easy access to the river.

Like most National Forest Campgrounds, this was dry camping. The campground is in much need of repair, many damaged picnic tables and downed trees. The road had huge potholes. We also experienced tiny gnats that could get through the screen of our trailer.

Beautiful campsite and great bathrooms. Very clean. Campsite and accommodations as advertised. Will definitely be making the trip again!

Don’t get me wrong - I love it here. However there has been NO POTABLE WATER here for at least three years. I saw a large group taking water from the river for food and dish washing. I hope they don’t get sick. Also there are tons of empty camping areas where people sometimes show up. Sites are listed as “online” only but if you go to Recreation.gov the sites become FF two days before the date. The hosts tell you it’s online. The website says it’s First come First serve. Therefore all these sites are left empty. It’s very discouraging and unfair.

The campsite was great, and the nature was beautiful. My main concern was the lack of enforcement of the fire ban that was in place. I witnessed multiple campsites with open fires burning and reported the issue to the campground hosts. They said they would look into it, the campsite across from me continued to have fires the next day. When I tried to report it again, the hosts were nowhere to be found. It appeared that little was being done to address these violations, which is concerning given the ongoing wildfire in the area.
Before you go camping, please read the restrictions on fire.

The amount of downed timber did not allow any hiking arounds the woods. Lack of maintenance and upkeep.
