The lake is why this campground is 5 stars. Bathrooms are close and modern, well kept and clean with running water and electricity. You can go to both Maiden Hair falls and Wynoochee falls, but I would drive its about 7 miles each way (gravel road). The road at the campsite is paved and each camp site has paved parking. The actual camping spot has gravel with a steel circle fire pit that includes a retractable grate for cooking. You can walk to the boat launch site, which has a spot for swimming as well (the whole lake is rocks, no sand, so take shoes). The lake is very clean and clear.

I stayed in one of the walk-in sites (#48) for 2 nights (7/17-7/19) and it was a great experience. I like the walk-in campsites because they are more private and you are closer to the lake. Site #48 was perfect because it was only a couple sites down from the bathrooms and you were off the path enough to not be woken up by passing guests. The picnic table is very large which was convenient. The hosts were extremely nice and answered our questions about directions as well as delivered fresh wood to our campsite. We also bought ice from them. The walk-in sites are right next to the path that takes you down to the swimming area of the lake. The water was cold, but it was a hot day and there were a lot of people swimming. There were mosquitos at night, so do not forget to bring bug spray!

From Route 12 via Montesano: Turn north on Wynoochee Valley Road, 1 mile west of Montesano. Drive 35 miles on Wynoochee Valley Road and Forest Road 22 to a major intersection. Turn left to stay on FR-22. Drive a short distance and turn right on Forest Road 2294. Drive 1 mile to the campground.
Coho Campground is accessible via Route 12, approximately 25 miles to the south. Access to Wynoochee Valley Road is available from Route 12.

97 mi drive to downtown Quilcene (about 2 hr 12 min)
Policies & Rules
General
- No commercial services available at Wynoochee Lake or Coho Campground; motorists should have sufficient fuel for the return trip.
- Reservation covers two licensed passenger vehicles and a maximum of 5 people at standard nonelectric sites; two vehicles includes any combination of passenger cars, trucks and/or recreational vehicles (boats and recreational trailers are not considered passenger vehicles); additional vehicles are $5/day to be paid within 30 minutes of arrival.
- Boat launch fee is $5; weekend boat launch permit is $5.
