About Swan Lake Kitchen

A variety of activities await visitors at the open air Swan Lake Kitchen. Located within the Swan Lake Campground, the group site is situated on a large, flat open space near the beach. The kitchen itself is located up the hill from the beach in the trees. The kitchen is accessible via a staircase from the parking area and a path from the beach. A day of swimming, boating, fishing or hiking can be topped off with a trip to the kitchen to wind down and enjoy a group meal. Originally built in 1936 by the Civilian Conservation Corps, the site was historically preserved in 2009 and retains its charming historic character.

The kids loved jumping off the dock. We hiked around the lake. When they say “No trailer turnaround” they mean it. We had to back our trailer into the lot. Loved our time there and are already planning next year’s adventure.

One of the best group sites to rent out. It's peaceful and your not bothered by anyone and can't hear other campers with the distance between us. We come every year!

It was clean. Quiet.
I don't think they knew we were going. They had signs up announcing the reservation before us & after but not us. So a lot of people we walking in our campsite. But left when they saw us.

Swan Lake Kitchen is accessible via Highway 2, Highway 97, and Highway 20, which connect from Seattle to Republic. From Republic, Highway 21 provides access to Forest Road 53 leading to the campground.

Policies & Rules

General

  • Entry is by combination lock on the gate to the access road to the site. Once the combination has been entered, you must push the lock shank down into the base of the lock before the locking mechanism will release. The combination will be included in your confirmation letter. You may also obtain the combination by calling the Republic Ranger District Office at (509) 775-7400.
  • No internal combustion motor boats allowed on Swan Lake.
  • Bears and cougars frequent the area; keep all food out of sight in approved containers or locked inside your vehicle and remove all food from area after eating
  • There are no electric site hookups at this facility

  • Don't Move Firewood: Please protect Pacific Northwest forests by preventing the spread of invasive species. Firewood can carry insects and diseases that can threaten the health of our western forests. You can make a difference by obtaining and burning your firewood near your camping destination. Visit Dontmovefirewood.org for further information.
  • Swan Lake Trail #14 passes through the group site along the lakeshore. Users of the group site should expect other forest visitors to hike or bike along the lakeshore edge of the group site as they make their way around the lake. The trail is posted asking users to be quiet and respectful as they pass through the group site meadow and by the lake access area.
