About Middle Mountain Cabins

The Middle Mountain Cabins are nestled in a small grassy opening near a small pond and Camp Five Run, a hiking trail that leads into the Laurel Fork South Wilderness. The cabins are secluded and offer a quiet retreat for visitors. Rented as a single unit, Middle Mountain Cabins include a main cabin with a kitchen, and two historic sleeping cabins. The cabins occupy a 3.5-acre space about 18 miles south of Wymer. The two smaller cabins were built in 1939 and served as bunk houses for Forest Service employees.

The cabin is nice. There are no kitchen supplies so bring what you need. When we arrived it was not clean. Food in sink and on counters. So need to bring cleaning supplies. The refrigerator works great and handy to have a stove to cook on.
The setting of the cabin was beautiful!!
Fireplace is great! There was lot's of wood available.
Outdoor fire pit is nice too.
You are truly off the grid! Hard to find these places.

Very quiet. Went on long hike. The trail is not marked and may be tricky to follow for beginners.

Amazing location far from the madding crowd. Just don't get lost on the way there like we did. The directions on the website are a little misleading methinks, But we would go back in a heartbeat!

the cabins allow us to have a comfortable setting for our entire group from 3 years old to 86. The absolute quiet is amazing and regenerative.

I really liked this rustic cabin in it's remote location, but have to admit it was far dirtier than I ever expected. We stay at lots of cabins in various state and national parks so feel we have a good baseline of cleanliness to expect. But this one was downright filthy which made sense when the park service acknowledged the cabin receives no regular cleaning. It appears to rely 100% upon visitors and over time nobody is going to give it the deep clean it needs every few weeks. Such a shame as this thing seems like a special place. Also, the dilapidated open wire bed mattress in the main cabin was probably due for replacement a decade ago. We slept so bad that the final night we elected to move our bedding to the be of my truck! It was kind of fun but please replace that mattress! Again, thought it was a neat cabin and location but wouldn't feel good about taking my spouse back to it unless I hear they make some changes to cleaning. The accumulated mice poop and dust was just too much to ignore.

{"text"=>"I’ve rented this cabin three times. Nice remote area at 3600 feet elevation. The cabins are at the southern end of the Laurel Fork Wilderness. A trail runs north into the wilderness area, down Camp Five Run to Laurel Fork of the Cheat River. Trout are found in these streams. Bigfoot (I never seen one) has been sighted nearby at Wildell and Glady. A foggy nighttime trip to the outdoor toilet, had me thinking about monsters one night. Good fun and great place to enjoy nature’s beauty.", "languageCode"=>"en"}
