Firefly Ridge

TL;DR: After three nights, there’s no way we’d come back.
Our stay started out nicely. The staff person at check in was very helpful and accommodating. She checked in on us before she left for the night just to make sure we got settled in okay. The first night, only one other site was booked, so not a lot of strain on the shared resources/facilities.
It was kind of downhill from there. I really tried to adjust my expectations since we’re still “camping,” but man, some of it was bad.
Overall, It seems like a slap-dash, superficial project and the cut corners are starting to show cracks. Reminds me of a cheap AirBnB that looks nice in pictures, but does not live up to the promises it makes. Case in point: WiFi. Their website advertises “We have WIFI at all tent sites.” That’s just not true. There’s WiFi at the check in house, and it reaches some of the tent sites. We did not have WiFi at all, and when I asked about it, the staff person apologized and sighed like it is a known issue that they can’t do anything about.
The biggest issue is the bathhouse. For context, there are 14 sites. At least 12 of them were booked for two of the three nights we stayed. Most sites had at least three people. The bathhouse has three showers, four toilets, and two sinks on the women’s side and two of everything on the men’s side (toilets, urinals, showers, sinks). Maybe that would be enough IF everything was commercial-grade. It’s not. This facility was not designed to and is not maintained adequately to handle this much use. If your plumbing is too sensitive to handle 30 people, maybe you shouldn’t have 30 people staying at your place. My suggestions for the owners:
⁃ Check the bathhouse a few times every day. Restock the towels, empty the trash and laundry hampers, wipe down the counters, clean up any messes. Not saying you need to scrub everything, but there shouldn’t be hair on the wall of the shower for three days, overflowing trash, puddles of water near the toilets, and no towels.
⁃ Put another toilet paper roll holder in every toilet room. There are too many people using these and single rolls run out so, so fast.
⁃ Give guests any space to put their stuff near the sinks while getting ready. I need to set my toothbrush somewhere while I wash my face, and the windowsill is dusty and covered in bugs. How about a wall shelf?
⁃ A second pump for hand soap, or dispensers closer to each sink. Wet hands reaching across that middle space makes such a huge wet mess immediately.
⁃ Bath mats that don’t just absorb and hold water. Even when I covered it with a small hand towel, I stepped out onto a cold, wet, squishy mat. Ick.
Other issues we encountered:
⁃ the grill is in bad shape, it’s not level, and it’s hard to use because there’s no where to put cooking utensils or food anywhere nearby.
⁃ The fire pit was packed with soot/ash that had turned into mud and half burned wood. Makes it hard to build a fire.
⁃ No expectations around noise. A group booked six sites and stayed up partying until past midnight.
⁃ The design of the tent itself wasted a ton of space. It was much smaller on the inside than it appeared from the outside. All the furnishings are pushed all the way to the walls (I always thought you were never supposed to let anything touch your tent walls?) and the steep slope of the walls leaves you with a tiny circle of space where you can actually stand up. The king size bed wasn’t fully useable because my forehead would literally be touching the wall of the tent if I tried to fit my whole body on it. The chairs are unusable because the only way to sit in them is bring them into the center of the room, and then you can’t walk around.

We had a blast staying at Firefly Ridge where we were celebrating a very special Birthday and First Father's Day. The canvas tents with beautiful boho decor put the capital L in luxury! Since we were traveling with a baby, it was especially nice to have a pack and play next to our beautiful, comfy bed, everyone slept wonderfully! The bathhouse was so clean and and convenient. The location, so close to Baltimore and DC was great! We had fun exploring the Paw Paw tunnel and trying local alcohol and enjoyed the Sunday farmers market. Firefly Ridge is a gem and I would recommend it to anyone looking for an elevated stay in the mountains!

My girlfriend and i adored our stay here! Very clean tents with air conditioning and refrigeration. Comfortable beds and clean sheets. Very quiet and scenic location. As well as well kept up with new bathrooms. We will absolutely be staying here again!

This was our first experience glamping. We have been camping for 20+ years in various ways. We absolutely have fallen in love with this place. Everything you need is provided except for your clothing,etc and food. The king bed we had was extremely comfy and the pillows!!! They were like sleeping on marshmallows they were so soft and squishy. But the bathrooms/bathhouse, was so much nicer than any hotel we have ever stayed in. Very well maintained and clean. The womens shower have shampoo, conditioner and body wash for use as well. We met ava upon check in and even though we were early, she jumped right on getting out spot ready. Molly was also very helpful and such a sweet young lady. Even gave us a recommendation for our anniversary dinner in Berkeley springs and it was top notch. Hunter was our guy Saturday evening and was just busy running around. We will most definitely be back again. Thanks for such a great time.

Our family had an incredible weekend at the Firefly ridge luxury retreat! My son and husband are experienced in camping through scouts, but for me this was a new experience. First, everything was clean, the rent and the bathrooms are well maintained. Firefly had thought of everything, the tent was well stocked with utensils, pots, pans, cooling unit, power unit, etc. It was like a hotel room, but in a tent with super comfortable beds and pillows. We were there in August and I would recommend highly to get a rent in the wooded area as it stays cooler. For the fall it will probably be better to get a mountain view tent as they get more sun. The area around offers plenty in terms of kayaking, horseback riding and hiking - these are the activities our family did. It was great to come back to the comfort at our tent after a day in the outdoors! And all just 2 h away from the DC region.
