This is a very remote campground with over 9 miles of potholes & one mudslide area to navigate just to get to the campsites. When we left, it took us over 30 minutes to go 2 miles just because you can’t avoid the deep potholes. There is no phone or internet service although I guess you can buy some sort of booster card at the store. The river is a nasty, muddy mess. Actual campsites are very nice, but this is the only redeeming factor. The campground is 20
Miles from the nearest town. We went there hoping to explore some of West Virginia using this as our base. No way. There were flash flood warnings while we were there &, without phone or internet, we were very uncomfortable. We ended up leaving 3 days early. I would not recommend this facility. This is the first COE campground that was not extremely nice. I must say the people at the gate were very nice & refunded the money for unused nights without us even asking.

Campground was great. Staff were nice and flexible. Only downside to it is the road going to the campground.

The attendants were great and the camp store staff and hosts/volunteers were very helpful. However, the road to the campground was full of potholes and it is likely we won’t return unless repairs are made.

The roads are horrible going into the campground and in the actual campground. They definitely need to work on that or we may not be returning.
