Nice peaceful and quiet weekend. Enjoyed with friends. Large sites and accommodated our two dogs. Had full hookups but no cell phone service.

What a lovely campground! This was our first time staying in West Virginia and we had a great stay. The campsites are very spacious. We stayed at site 43 and had full hookups. We had a nice picnic table and a great fire pit that had a grill grate. The campground was nice and quiet as well. No cell service once you get about 10ish miles outside the campground. Closest grocery store that had more than just dry good staples seemed to be Walmart (which was about a 20-30 minute drive) and the closest place that had firewood available was Ace Hardware, which was also about 20-30 minute drive away. Our GPS had trouble getting us there, but just follow the signs and the directions on the website. That's much easier than what we had to do, which was turn around at Bee Run because our GPS was all out of sorts.

We would not recommend this CG fo any rigs larger than 25 feet. Road into is windy, and narrow. 13 miles off the interstate, busy local road above CG, which makes it noisey during day. Many power pedestals or the sewer hookups are broken/damaged. Easy to see up all sites were level. Many of them are nice and deep. Real smoky from the numerious campfires being burned. Bathrooms are just ok.

One of the prettiest campgrounds we have stayed at. The attendants are so nice and helpful. Bathrooms always clean.
One negative was only Black Bear bathrooms were open. Will be back.

We ended up leaving a day early. It was a pretty park but the grass had not been cut for awhile, it was incredible dark at night with no street lights which was made even worse due to the mountains and being cloudy. We were concerned with walking our dogs at night especially since there was animal scat throughout the park. Cell service was nonexistent. We couldn’t even make calls if there was an emergency. Also, there was no camp staff that we ever saw.

The ride up and back the 8.5 mile narrow road with tight turns, no shoulder was an intense drive. The campground has a few different sections. Some are electric only, one section is primitive and one have full hook ups. The sites have room between them. Some sites are close to a river that was very low when we were there so no boating from the launches. There are 2 play grounds. One is quite large. There is no WIFI or TV reception unless you have a Sat. We enjoyed many walks and enjoyed the fall season.

The only thing I did not like is having to make a reservation. Always before we could drive up and pick a spot. Why do we have to have reservations, never had had to before?

From I-79, take exit 67. Turn right on WV-4 and go 1 mile. Turn left on WV-15 and travel 12 miles to the campground. Campground will be on your right. NOTE: GPS directions are not always accurate. Call for additional information.

General
- Alcohol is prohibited at Sutton Lake
- Visiting hours are from .
- Don't Move Firewood: Protect your forests from tree-killing pests by buying your firewood locally and burning it on-site. Visit Dontmovefirewood.org for further information.
- • No person(s) may camp at one or more campsites for more than 14 days in a 30 day consecutive period at “Sutton Lake”. This includes the reservation holder (primary occupant) and all other overnight occupants.
- • Any person utilizing a Federal Pass for a discount on camping fees must present the discount pass upon request, be registered on the campsite, and occupy the site overnight for the entire duration of the reservation to receive the full discount.
- • You may only be registered as the primary occupant at one campsite upon check-in.
- • All trash and debris must be completely removed from the campsite upon departure.
- • All motorized recreational vehicles, including motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles (ATV), utility terrain vehicles (UTV), mopeds, scooters, golf carts, hoverboards, etc., that are not licensed for use on all roadways are prohibited in the campgrounds.
- • Please contact the Sutton Lake office about questions on power driven mobility aids.
- • The primary occupant is responsible for the adherence to camping rules and regulations by all other occupants, guests, and visitors on the campsite.
