Beautiful campground!! My only complaint is when making our reservation, we tried to get a handicapped site close to the bathhouse. Showed that all of those sites were reserved. So had to get a site far from there. When we got to the campground, it was practically empty and those sites were available!!!

Pleasantly surprised by the changes and upgrades since coming here since many years ago. Love that there are more full hook up sites available. Campground was neat and clean and we enjoyed our stay. Would love to see the option of wifi being available.

We had a great weekend stay! Bathhouses was very clean as well as campground. Next time I will plan our stay for longer. Very peaceful great place to relax and enjoy good family time!

We have been coming to Gerald Freeman for 13 years. We usually come 2 to 3 times a year. The bathrooms were the worst we have ever seen. Flooded…..tampons in the showers……cigarette butts in the showers…..one of the toilets were totally covered in fecal matter. As I understand that this is not the parks fault…….it was that way for 3 days. The camp hosts were hardly ever on duty. One day we went up to the gate 4 times trying to get information. They are rude and not very nice. They kept leaving notes on our door stating that we could only have 2 cars on our lot. Most parks let you pay for a 3rd vehicle but they would not. We have always had 3 cars because we have a camper and kayaks and then my son comes in from the military and stays with us for a couple of days. This has never been an issue until this year. We will not recommend this park to anyone else until things get back to the way they were before.

The overall campground upkeep is horribly lacking. Overflowing dumpsters, way overgrown grass, hosts are unaware of their own campground (ie- made us stop to fill up at the water fi ll. We told them our site has water and they guaranteed us it does not, we pulled in after filling up and there was the water hookup)
Host was also rather rude, tracked down my mother in law and insisted she pay a guest pass when she was staying with us in our site.
Electric kept shorting out. Just overall the maintenance and upkeep of the park is greatly going downhill.

This is a beautiful place to stay, the host this year is exceptionally helpful. The hiking trails are nice but bring lots of bug repellent. We have been coming here for over 25 years and have never been disappointed. We bring our grandkids every year, it is very family oriented with 2 large playgrounds, volleyball, cornhole, horseshoe pits (bring your own ball, bags, horseshoes). There is also a nice snack shack where you can rent this equipment and get some good treats.

From I-79, take exit 67. Turn right on WV-4 and go 1 mile. Turn left on WV-15 and travel 12 miles to the campground. Campground will be on your right. NOTE: GPS directions are not always accurate. Call for additional information.

General
- Alcohol is prohibited at Sutton Lake
- Visiting hours are from .
- Don't Move Firewood: Protect your forests from tree-killing pests by buying your firewood locally and burning it on-site. Visit Dontmovefirewood.org for further information.
- • No person(s) may camp at one or more campsites for more than 14 days in a 30 day consecutive period at “Sutton Lake”. This includes the reservation holder (primary occupant) and all other overnight occupants.
- • Any person utilizing a Federal Pass for a discount on camping fees must present the discount pass upon request, be registered on the campsite, and occupy the site overnight for the entire duration of the reservation to receive the full discount.
- • You may only be registered as the primary occupant at one campsite upon check-in.
- • All trash and debris must be completely removed from the campsite upon departure.
- • All motorized recreational vehicles, including motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles (ATV), utility terrain vehicles (UTV), mopeds, scooters, golf carts, hoverboards, etc., that are not licensed for use on all roadways are prohibited in the campgrounds.
- • Please contact the Sutton Lake office about questions on power driven mobility aids.
- • The primary occupant is responsible for the adherence to camping rules and regulations by all other occupants, guests, and visitors on the campsite.
