Absolutely beautiful campground! Pit toilets smelled better than most public restrooms. Grounds were well kept, park was quiet and lake was beautiful

They advertise a rail trails bike trail and a hiking trail around the lake, reason for the reservation. Unfortunately both were so over grown you couldn't use either one, very disappointed.

Site 35
I loved the remote location. the walking trail around Laura lake was great. I would stay away from the bog boardwalk... there are planks missing and the very end is super 'shady'.
I stayed at site 35. Although it said this was suitable for a tent - I don't think it was. The pad was full of stones which made it hard to get my tent stakes in. Would be a perfect site for a pop-up or camper. Still loved the location.

Was in site 39.Very good camp! Trail around the lake was pretty nice lake big enough to find your own personal beach area! Lots of nature. Quite. If you want to be in the woods I recommend this campground.bald eagles and loons everyday on the lake. It’s really a nice place to be if the weather holds out for you.

I think the National Forest Service needs my help and expertise from my former job in a technical field. And I am willing to do it for FREE! The generic and not clear rules on generator use, are really souring our camping experiences It's not using the generators, as we have one ourselves. It's the extremely loud, older, so called contractor generators that are the annoyance. It's beyond easy to make simple rules to get these out of the parks. I am willing to help writing simple rules to single out these older, very loud, one speed noise makers. Please, I implore anyone there to take me up on my offer! To be clear, I am not in any way for banning generator use, but camping 3 sites away and still hearing a very loud generator is ruining it for everyone!!!

My favorite place but the maintenance of the restrooms and other areas was lacking due to I'm sure budget cuts to the DNR we need to better fund our state and national parks

The only piece that I wish was posted for us to know was that water isn’t available in the back loop. It was barely an inconvenience, just a helpful tip.
Site 35 is very large, so even though the fire ring is in the wrong side for a pop up camper, we were able to pull in with our Toyota Sienna, drop the camper, pull forward more and back out. The trail to the lake was easy to navigate, but it is worth knowing there is no beach. The water access is rocky and covered in down trees. It is beautiful and good for a quick dip.
Even in mid August, the pit toilets were clean, well stocked, and not stinky.
Our neighbors were all friendly and respectful.
Overall, it is one of our top sites for a great campground.
