The campground was setup well, in a great location, and the camp host Libby and Stan were fantastic! The saved our bacon when all the certified hay in town was gone they found some for us! Highly recommended.

This horse camp ground is well run and well maintained by Stan and Libby, the friendly camp hosts for Hunter campground. Riding out of here is a treat with so many trails to choose from!

A very nice primitive campground with great views and riding. The camp hosts are wonderful, very helpful and friendly. The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is because there is only one corral per site. The corals are large enough for 2 equines, but 3 is tight and if they don’t all get along it is problematic. There were 3 of us in one trailer and we had to buy an additional site for an extra corral that someone could have used. An improvement would be to have an overflow corral or two that could be rented. There was quite a bit of day use parking that was 98% unused while we were there and I don’t think it would be sacrificing much to put a couple of extra pens there.

From Buffalo, travel west on Highway 16 for 13 miles. Turn off Highway 16 west onto Forest Road 19, where you will travel approximately 2 miles to the campground.
Hunter Campground is accessible approximately 13 miles west of Buffalo via Highway 16.
Elevation: 2390 feet
15 mi drive to downtown Buffalo (about 25 min)
