What Guests Are Saying
Gros Ventre Campground offers a convenient location near the Grand Tetons, with clean facilities, well-marked sites, and friendly staff. Visitors appreciate the ample space for camping, wildlife sightings, and ranger programs. However, some guests have reported issues with ADA site accessibility, noisy neighbors, and a lack of showers. Overall, it remains a popular choice for its beautiful setting and amenities.

This campground was very convenient to the Grand Tetons. An easy access to and from park. The sites are well marked and ours was paved which was a plus. The Bear boxes provided helped us keep our items safe. The campground was also very clean.

We were denied Handicapped camp sites while non Handicapped campers occupied multiple handicapped sites for prolonged periods of time. Staff refused to enforce your stated policy i.e. A.D.A accessible site is only reservable by those needing an ADA accessible site. Guests without a need for ADA Accessible Site will not be permitted to use this site. Reservations were made and walk-in campers were occupying ADA sites while we, with our wheelchair bound adult son and valid handicap vehicle placard were denied by the Gros Ventre Camp manager claiming she had no authority to enforce your requirement or to comply with ADA law in the administration of the duty of managing the Camp. We previously stayed at that same location, when it was run by unsalaried volunteers and the Camp managers were always considerate and accommodating. Please require Handicap Pass at time of reservation and check in at all Federal Facilities. Thank you 🙏

Stayed here for a quick night to get an early start in the park to see wildlife and complete a hike. Aside from very noisy neighbors that started playing music and slamming car doors at 5am, which is not the campground's fault, it was a pleasant stay. I was nervous about whether truck campers are allowed in tent sites but nobody said anything and there were a number of tent sites occupied by camper vans so it must be acceptable.

I was harassed by an employee 3 times during my stay. She was a person who was cleaning restrooms and told me I can't park in a certain spot as I told her I was camping there for a week at $60 a night. She ran after me on her bike crying, so I stopped to see if she was ok, she told me I can't drive around the campground, which I told her again I'm camping there at $60 a night respectfully. I told the people in the office, as it was the last few days before closing, they knew about it. This wasn't ok at all.

Most campsites are fairly large and flat. Bathrooms are adequate with flush toilets and water spigot outside. It was a VERY LONG WALK from our campsite (Loop F, 299) to the Ranger Talk auditorium - it took well over 30 minutes to walk there and a steady pace. The Ranger talk on bears was only 30 minutes and very basic - focused on young schoolchildren.
We found it surprisingly difficult to locate garbage dumpsters - they are only available on some loops. We ended up carrying garbage bags from Loop F all the way to the entrance station.
Didn't see any wildlife, but heard lots of reports of elk in the campground the day prior.

The campground employees are great. Check in was easy. Spots are quite close together. The nice thing was that it was a short walk to the river, and in general, a good location. It was a decent spot to base ourselves for the tetons. I also enjoyed the presentations at night.
