About Gros Ventre Campground

Gros Ventre (pronounced ‘grow-vont’), means “big belly” in French, and the Gros Ventre Campground—surrounded by cottonwood trees and featuring stunning views of Blacktail Butte and the Teton Mountains—is truly magnificent! The campground’s location next to the Gros Ventre River offers some of the best opportunities in the park for wildlife sightings, as bison, moose, mule deer and a wide variety of birds are known to frequent the area. For avid anglers, the Gros Ventre River offers plentiful cutthroat trout, brook trout, and whitefish. While none of Gros Ventre’s campsites are on the river, all are within walking distance.The campground offers camping for tents and dry camping for RVs. Campsites include 279 individual campsites, 4 large group sites, and 39 electric-only sites, 10 of which are ADA-accessible. The campground is open from late-April to early-October.

Gros Ventre is the best spot to stay in the Park! Easy access to Jackson Hole and the Park, I was also able to drive over to Mormon Row and catch sunset. The campground staff were friendly and helpful during checkin.

My site was great. Restrooms were clean but could be updated. Moose central. Had a moose come right up to my tent one morning!! And seen moose everyday during my stay. This was my third time camping here. Will definitely be back!!!

Great campground - nice & quiet. Great hosts - very friendly and helpful. Flush toilets are a huge plus. Site was cozy and private enough. Campground is in close proximity to Gros Ventre River, which meant excellent opportunities to look for wildlife. We were tent camping, traveling on motorcycles and had no issues. We would definitely stay there again.

Great location to enjoy the Grand Tetons. Facilities were clean, staff was friendly and helpful. Wildlife spottings in the morning and evening were incredible on the road turning into the campsite. We were even greeted by moose a few campsites grazing a few campsites down from us. Highly recommended stay.

Cancellation policy

  • Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
  • Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
  • Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
    • Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
  • Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
  • Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
  • Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
