About Gros Ventre Campground

Gros Ventre (pronounced ‘grow-vont’), means “big belly” in French, and the Gros Ventre Campground—surrounded by cottonwood trees and featuring stunning views of Blacktail Butte and the Teton Mountains—is truly magnificent! The campground’s location next to the Gros Ventre River offers some of the best opportunities in the park for wildlife sightings, as bison, moose, mule deer and a wide variety of birds are known to frequent the area. For avid anglers, the Gros Ventre River offers plentiful cutthroat trout, brook trout, and whitefish. While none of Gros Ventre’s campsites are on the river, all are within walking distance.The campground offers camping for tents and dry camping for RVs. Campsites include 279 individual campsites, 4 large group sites, and 39 electric-only sites, 10 of which are ADA-accessible. The campground is open from late-April to early-October.

If you’re OK with renting dirt for $55/night you will love this place. It is beautiful and very easy to get into and out of. One of the best “dark sky” places you will find.

We love it when we get there. We never know 6 months in advance if we’re going to be able to make it. We had to move 3 times. It gets more difficult to manage reservations all the time.

Great location. All but one of the hosts were excellent and professional. The white female in the farthest rv spot from check in was rude and very unprofessional! I accidentally parked in an area, that did not have any no parking signs. It looked like a pull out. She yelled at me when I came back to my truck. I apologized, and she said it was her driveway. She failed to say she had another way out also. Had I seen any no parking signs I would not have parked there. This was my second time staying in the campground, and I had never had an issue last time or this this.
I was approached by another host and he was courteous and professional about not parking on the side of the road.
I’ll think long and hard about returning to this campground or referring other here.

Orig had 3 diff reservations. They were able to find 1 spot for our time vs 3. Woke up to a Bull Moose, 2 cows and a baby in camp! Quiet, enjoyable, beautiful scenery, close to all we wanted to do! We will be back

Cancellation policy

  • Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
  • Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
  • Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
    • Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
  • Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
  • Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
  • Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
