About Gros Ventre Campground

Gros Ventre (pronounced ‘grow-vont’), means “big belly” in French, and the Gros Ventre Campground—surrounded by cottonwood trees and featuring stunning views of Blacktail Butte and the Teton Mountains—is truly magnificent! The campground’s location next to the Gros Ventre River offers some of the best opportunities in the park for wildlife sightings, as bison, moose, mule deer and a wide variety of birds are known to frequent the area. For avid anglers, the Gros Ventre River offers plentiful cutthroat trout, brook trout, and whitefish. While none of Gros Ventre’s campsites are on the river, all are within walking distance.The campground offers camping for tents and dry camping for RVs. Campsites include 279 individual campsites, 4 large group sites, and 39 electric-only sites, 10 of which are ADA-accessible. The campground is open from late-April to early-October.

We just traveled to 7 national parks as well as Seattle and the WA coast and Puget Sound, and stayed at 5 different campsites over the course of 13 days. Gros Ventre was our favorite campground! We were able to take a nice walk around the grounds as well as a short hike into the woods along a beautiful babbling brook. At the end of our woods hike, I snapped a photo into the setting sun over the brook and had no idea how it would turn out since I couldn't see very well into the sun. When we got back to our campsite and I looked at the photo, it took my breath away and ended up being my favorite photo of our trip - out of over 350 photos! Very nice campground and well run!

We had a great two-night stay at Gros Ventre Campground in Grand Teton National Park. The campground was peaceful, clean, and well maintained. The bathrooms were very clean, which we really appreciated. The campsites were spacious and the surrounding scenery was beautiful. It was a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the Tetons. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely camp here again. Highly recommended!

The facilities were well kept. The staff at the entrance were extremely helpful and gave very helpful directions to the campsite. Our campsite was on the West Corridor. We loved that there was an area where no generators were allowed!

Our only concern was the width of the West Corridor. It is not really wide enough for 2 vehicles, yet is two-way, providing the only way in and out of the west side of the campground. Speed along the corridor was also an issue, with some drivers exceeding the speed limit.

Cancellation policy

  • Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
  • Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
  • Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
    • Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
  • Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
  • Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
  • Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
